They already tried planting the seeds of "but there's no way it could interoperate with modern planes as part of NORAD and NATO!" which, of course they can. and "you could never possibly afford to have more than 1 type of plane! that's just crazy talk!" which is nonsense, except for the insane requirements for care and feeding of the F35s taking an oversized proportion of available resources…
