A smart species doesn't bet on one planet staying around. If we want to persist, we need to expand on the long term. Right now a single large meteor strike or a number of other catastrophic events could wipe us out because we're only on earth. Expanding to other planets in the solar system, and at some point hopefully beyond, is necessary to keep our species afloat.

Yes that costs resources, but as far as I'm aware not nearly enough to significantly impact climate change on its own. Also, as a much as I hate Musk, SpaceX has achieved some wonderful things. They have bright people there, and the money invested has achieved real progress in space travel. Reusing parts of their rockets and overall just improving the tech. I'd rather see someone having a space race, even if it's billionaires, as long as it improves the knowledge and technology for our species.

Changing your mind, therefore, might mean losing a social circle and possibly status that you thought to have. I agree, but there's a difference between simply differing opinion and dumping a boat load of money, presumably some of it from Mullvad subscriptions, into a party that advocates for "remigration". I had ordered an airco before this madness started, but unfortunately the had to order it and it hasn't arrived yet. It has been hot for days already, it'll be 35 or higher the next 4 days, and I live under an almost flat, black roof with the sun on my the entire day. There will be no eepy sleepy time

At my place that trick works the first day, but after that it's over. The house always heats the same under this sunshine, slowly rising to 28-30 at the end of the day with everything closed and down from like 22-24 in the morning. The only question is whether that's better than a higher temperature with a slight breeze and fresh air. Today, it won't be higher than 30, so I'd rather have wind. The next 4 days, it'll be 35 or higher, so everything will get closed down during the day

Thanks! It really sucks. I'd prefer if my body just had some sort of "The Sims" type of "energy" bar so I'd be able to see when I push too far. Instead I'll just randomly feel worse a few days later. I'm slowly picking stuff up again though, mostly because I was getting frustrated with rotting away at home, and it doesn't seem to make things worse. And I still enjoy programming (which is also my job), I just enjoy it way too much. But that's better than not being motivated at all I guess

Personally I really struggle with it. I wanna use it because it's not from a US company, but it's just wrong in like 60% of whatever I ask it. Sometimes even when corrected. It's good though, makes me stop using the clanker and actually search for myself. Sometimes I do resort to ChatGPT or accidentally invoke Gemini when searching though, and those two have a way higher hit rate

Nice photo! Gear can really make a difference. I have both M43 mirrorless cameras (Olympus E-M5 mark 2 as primary) and Canon DSLRs (Canon 5D mark 2 as primary). Both of them have their moments. I really enjoy shooting with a DSLR more in many cases, but there's a time and a place for that. Sometimes having the features and low weight of the E-M5.2 make much more sense.

Honestly I keep flipflopping between them, so I just keep them both, despite it being a bit annoying to be invested in 2 systems.

I like all the colours! The house, the trees, the sand, the sky and water. It would've been nice if the curved edge between sand and water would've been in the frame all the way, though maybe that wasn't possible because of distractions in the shot? Either way it's a nice picture
