I'm happy to proclaim entering my 30th continuous year of Sony boycotting. Where's my award?
It was never openly stated. Whatever they write on that matter will certainly be a retcon. There's no canonical reason for Deckard to not die just as any other synth. He was just a glorified executioner after all. It is like putting WiFi on a letter opener. Sure, it could be done, but what's the point? There's no in universe reason for that to happen.
With art it is a bit more complex than that. Think of a photographer. Many people love photography, not all people love wedding photography, for example. It is not a great idea to have someone who loathes wedding photography as the photographer at your wedding. But, there's no shortage of photographers who don't like weddings working it because it is the most predictable and lucrative income source for a professional photographer. The results will depend on the level of professionalism of the party involved, sure they are doing it for money. But it is not hard to imagine that a photographer who actively enjoys the subject matter will turn out a more satisfying result than someone who, however professional, is only going through the motions. This is how many a couple end up with boring cookie cutter photos of the most important ceremony of their romantic relationship and quickly end up burying it in a basement or closet somewhere, never to be seen again.
This is incredibly limiting as a mindset. Movies can absolutely have strong world building, existential messages and social commentary, and also be accessible and entertaining. It's just that, you have to be a good filmmaker to achieve that.
In universe lore is that synthetics are pre programmed to die. They live very short lives. That's like, the whole plot of the first blade runner.
You think it is morally OK to eat a fruit pie filled with your own son's semen?
Answer quick, the FBI watch list guy is waiting.
If a boner lasts for too long it can actually cause oxygen deprivation and necrosis of the tissue. You dick dies and falls off. If you had a boner for hours and suddenly feel no pain, it's too late, the nerves already died and the boner not only is not going away. Unless you get a surgery immediately, you can die from sepsis. So, yeah, boners can be painful.
Not a peep from them about lag or input delay. That technology, the more heavily it is used, the worse the game feels. Imagine playing a game that requires precise analog input, FPS in the hundreds but with a 150+ ms latency. It ruins gameplay. Paradoxically, those games where input lag is not an issue, like grand strategy or visual novels, don't require such high frames. And those games that benefit from more frames, are actually hurt by this tech by becoming sluggish and disgusting to play. Such an unnecessary invention. Optimizing the game is hard work, but it makes for a better experience that's far more impactful than AI generating will ever be.
This picture is not by Hine. It's genAI. First published by Philosophy Fuse FB page. A notorious slop shop. This photo didn't exist before july of this year. It's obviously from stolen material similar to Hine's, but it is not by him and don't attribute it to him. This is disgraceful. How can people be so gullible.
This picture is not by Hine. This is genAI, just own up to it, but don't misattribute from ignorance. Philosophy Fuse is a FB slop page. They exaggerate and distort real stories to make them more emotionally manipulative. This particular image and the whole story is a fabrication. They first published it in june of this year and this particular picture has never been a part of Hine's published works. This is a blatant if not intentional violation of the only rule on this community.
