authoritarian cult of personality in charge of North Korea is beyond simply believing in a certain form of society and economics, it's unhinged and sociopathic.

Just to add to the unhinged, they (Prominent tankies like davel, dessalines, cowbee, Geneva_conveience, yogthos esp) constantly push the idea that authoritarianism doesn't exist and is nothing but a "CIA anti-communism Op" (or alternatively you'll see them spout "All states are authoritarian so therefore none are")

GTK toolkit developers met in Brussels once again for their annual hackfest during FOSDEM week.

Following their latest GTK 4.21 test build for the GNOME 50 beta, GTK developers at the hackfest were discussing and thinking through some of their plans this year.

While previously there was talk of a possible opt-in unstable API for GTK so developers could test new experimental API features, no firm decision there has been reached yet. They did decide though to bump their C runtime requirement to C11 for the GTK 4.24 cycle.

Today, we’re launching an updated beta build to address player feedback and showcase upcoming Combat Modernisation changes, helping us continue to refine and polish the update.

This beta branch will be available from today until Monday, February 16th and we are investigating the viability of an additional update next week if possible. Let's dive in!

A nice, overdue usability improvement is on the way for those using Apple Macs under Linux. Finally there will be the ability to preserve the same backlight brightness across reboots under Linux.

Currently when rebooting a Mac with adjustable display brightness under Linux, the brightness level is not saved and thus reboots and ends up being set to whatever was the last brightness value set by macOS. But two small patches to the Linux EFI code will allow saving the brightness on Macs under Linux.

When I first saw a tweet about the Bash Reference Manual being part of Epstein files, I simply thought of it as a joke.

And then there were more tweets. As a Linux user and an open source enthusiast, I was curious and I had to find out if there was any truth in it.

The truth is that indeed Bash Reference Manual is part of the Epstein Files released by the U.S. Department of Justice. You can access it here.

    NOTHING IS SAFE LMFAO

This was within just a minute of casually scrolling through the r/BuyFromEu thread that was just a few hours old at the time.

Well this particular pathway isnt about getting .ml users to leave, but more "redirecting" good non-tankie content off their comms and into non-.ml comms

They can't even see my posts lmao

It's because it's part of my .ml cross-posting campaign, I try to maintain the original link as much as possible so it shows in the crosspost menu of clients

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

    Megathread on the issue

    Some highlights from the link:

"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

Full native cross compatibility with basically everything modern, if you need a drive to work between Linux, Mac and windows or even a device like a Blu-ray player that's exfat

It's fat32, but better and without that annoying 4GB file limitation
