I only haxe one phone with Thunderbird. Checked but I see no way to add folders. Since TB is based on K-9 Mail I assume the latter can't do it either but will check. FairEmail, however, does allow for creation of folders.

Granted I don't run modern Android but being on a custom ROM vs OEM stock has nothing to do with whether or not one should root. Being on a custom ROM doesn't mean you have more control over your device. Where possible I have always been rooted (since Jellybean). Only on rare occasions (device cannot be unlocked) am I not on a custom ROM. I need / want full control over my devices.

I am, however, one of those persons who does not tell someone they should root nor am I one to tell someone they don't need root. That's up to the individual and their needs. The old adage that if one has to ask whether or not one should root then the answer is probably no.

Have an X1 Carbon with SIM slot. Been meaning for ages to do something with that. This gave me nudge. :-)

Interesting. Never heard of them before. Doing some reading I see they've been around a very long time (mostly as content provider). Even once had an Ubuntu music store. Didn't realize that the company that bought them, Songtradr, also bought Bandcamp (resulting in the loss of half their employees). I remember when Epic Games bought the latter but didn't pay attention after that. Been three years since Epic sold.

Can't access 7digital on the phone I'm typing on now (guess it doesn't like IVPN) but checked it out on another. Not bad but no flat pricing like on Bandcamp. Charge differently depending format (mp3 vs flac). I'm in the U.S. so will stick with what I know.

Thought I tried this app but I guess not. Installed it from both F-Droid and IzzyOnDroid (essentially github release). Couldn't get the app to do anything really. Wouldn't play anything (known issue on their git). Not even sure what its music sources are.

You mentioned Bandcamp. I buy googobs of music from there. Transferred all my music to a NAS running Jellyfin and Navidrome then stream using various clients. Sometimes it seems like I'm hearing some tracks for the first time.

If I feel a need to discover new music I'll use the Bandcamp app or go through the flood of emails they send. :)

Don't forget that Newpipe and Pipepipe are also Bandcamp & Soundcloud clients. You can random stream (and download???) using those.

Is qt5ct available on nixos? If so maybe install that to get qt5 apps themed properly. Maybe.

Yes, ThinkPad is great for Linux. Only had/have a few but always a pleasure to use. So reliable. Plus I really don't like touchpads so ThinkPads for the win. Even have two ThinkPad standalone keyboards (one wireless, one wired) for when I hook up to a mobile device, media box, or mini PC.

Been using Thexyz for a long time but another I also use that has so far been reliable and inexpensive is Cheap email for everyone | Purelymail. Also use it with my own domain. See if they fit your criteria.
