Whenever a parent is seen treating their kid like shit, and they or someone responds with, "Do you have a kid?" it's such a braindead argument. in c/unpopularopinion@lemmy.world

I think you are misunderstanding the argument. It’s not that non-parents don’t have the right to speak, but that they lack the experience to judge the situation.

Not saying this is a valid argument in the situations you described, those are clearly wrong and you don’t need kids to know this, but that’s where they’re coming from.

A milder example would be non-parents judging parents for letting their kids watch TV for extended periods of time, when they’ve don’t know the struggle of having to baby-sit a toddler 24/7.

    I don’t think I‘ve heard of air fryers or knew anyone that owned one for most of my life and suddenly they’re everywhere.

    No, the polite way is to skip the preamble and just call. Either they pick up or they don’t.

    /edit: I took this meme to mean at work, where being on call is expected. In that case I‘d rather get called directly than getting interrupted twice by writing first.

    Outside work: don’t call unless this is an emergency.

    Most people have learned by now, that “lines of code“ is a terrible metric for evaluating productivity. Why are we doing the exact same thing with AI tokens now?
