5. part failures (with so many parts, there’s always something broken

They are all challenges that can be overcome. But at what cost. Consensus is that economically it seems hilariously unviable. Datacenters tend to have to make their money back within about 3 years. The 3 year make money back issue is also why I believe the AI DC buildout is such a high risk gamble/bubble. In a year or two, all that hardware they made a year ago will need to be replaced. You just redo the whole investment again…

No Linux Epic doing Linux. That’s progress!

Seems like the real story here is one guy maintaining a critical infrastructure begging for volunteers to help out and nobody steps up. So yeah, I really don’t like what he does. And also the OSS community is failing him.

Deezer seems to do a decent job. Publishing numbers and filtering content. They can probably do a better job. But it was enough for me to switch over.

Between Framework at least trying to build an open ecosystem, there are very very few other options out there. Yes they can probably do better, still they are effectively the only decent open option (for me at least) at a reasonable price and quality.

When I saw the other day that github reliability was <90% I knew they are deep on the road to fully cooked.

Let’s be very clear here. Chrome ripped off the hard work from the KDE webkit people. That is also the reason much of it is open source, because open source and volunteer contributions made it live.

Put Linux on an old gaming laptop. Thing runs much better on Linux than Windows ever has.

Affinity is much more usable than the gimp. I hear good things about it with crossover (commercial wine). If you’re willing to spend a bit of money (not an exorbitant amount).

There were so many final straws. So many lines crossed. Zero chance this is “the” final straw…
