The trick in many genres seems the market border crossing. Country might sell low priced in USA, where it originated, but might sell higher priced in Europe or Asia. In Brazil many vinyl records that in Europe easily sell for double or triple digits can still be found for silly prices by crate diggers. Similar until a decade ago with classical music: super common garage sale 1 € records could sell to China for 15 € or more if they were NM...

I consider trying to contact another person in the administration before it happens... It's just so stupid, the super expensive hard to build piece of infrastructure to make it safe is there already at the next parallel street (a concrete street bridge over a railway that runs right next to the priority cycle path, that bridge is wide enough so the cycle path also crosses underneath the street together with the railway). Yet for some to me really impossible to understand reason they choose to redesign the streets around it to guide more car traffic from the neighbourhood around it away from this safe crossing of the cycle "priority route" and towards the dangerous level crossing with it. Putting up the extra "you have priority" signs for the cyclists is just the crazy drop too much. Yeah, you have priority but you should be extremely fucking careful here anyway because you are crossing a street with cars that just drive straight for the 800m before it and 800m after it! Nothing but paint and signs in the middle of long straight street... especially at night or in fall/winter when there's often a thick low hanging fog in this city, cyclists should absolutely not be encouraged to blindly take their priority there!

Local city made a new "safe" crossing for a priority cycle path where it crosses a local road with medium relatively slow traffic. The local road now has a mini very soft speed bump, lots of white and red paint and a sign saying you have to yield to the cycle path. On the cycle path they actually even put the "you have the priority" sign. None of this solves the issue of it being a for the cars super unexpected weird priority to give, and the view on the incoming cyclists being super obstructed by level difference and bushes. Not even mentioning distracted or drunk or foreign drivers. I tried emailing the city CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE responsible person about what a death trap they conceived there. He'd have none of it, saying it's super save now because of all the paint and the signs. Meanwhile, parallel street to this one actually already has a non-level conflict free crossing over the cycle path... Which they're closing to cars and thus sending more cars towards the super dangerous level crossing... I'll experience a very weird mixture of sadness and "I told you so" in a few months to a few years I think... At a similar crossing a bit further it already happened, car hit cargo bike with 2 kids in it (they were severily injured). The car driver "oversaw" them while visibility is better there than at this new crossing :( It's incredible how much traffic planners assume car drivers to be good drivers at all times.

The only neighbouring country with certainly better train travelling imo is Switzerland.

French tgv is fucking expensive and trains are a lot less comfortable.

Dutch has great trains but it's basically all intercity/regional/local. It's more like a very large S-Bahn Network, Not comparable to ice experience.

Belgian trains are just shit often and just as much delayed, also no real long distance trains.

Luxembourg is free but the trains are also very unreliable...

Is it really that great in Poland, Czechia, Austria? I don't know.

It could be better, but DB Long Distance travel is really not that bad. It's mainly the infrastructure that's lagging behind

I planted a raspberry bush a few years ago on a strip of unused leftover nothing land in the neighborhood. Neighborhood kids loved the bush and ate the berries. Birds loved it and ate the berries. Some old hag hated it ("looks untidy!!!") and sneakily had the bush removed (it's not her land either) although she knew damn well who had planted it and that kids and birds loved it.

I'm always torn by the turning the lights off every time I leave a room shortly and will be back in a few to 15 minutes and turn it on again. At which point is the faster breaking of the LED lightbulb because of way more on/off cycles worth minding more over the slight use of electricity from leaving it on while gone? How long of a planned "useless light on" is actually still worth it?

    2€ local charity shop.

Someone's grandparent died I suppose, and they didn't share their love for music. Luckily they brought it to a charity and didn't dump it in the trash.

There was a collection of about 40 7" 45rpm jazz-singles from second half of the 1950s - first half of the 1960s, at 1 € a piece a lot of them well more than worth it! I bought almost all of them.

And also a 10" folder with 14 LP records in it. Among which, this is my very favorite: Saxes In Jazz. (short) LP with very chill jazz, almost entirely instrumental. The title is a bit misleading, because the best part about is the excellent Bass solo by Al Hall! Overall not very sax heavy actually, but very well balanced instrumentation. An excellent record to have a cake and a coffee with company over. Record condition somewhere between VG+ and NM, just like all the singles, plays perfectly no clics no nothing only very superficial hairlines visible with good light. Incredible haul!

Really, gems are often still out there for grabs at bargain prices! Keep checking local thrift stores and flea markets regurarly, before someone decides to clear a shelf of beautiful records into a garbage can!
