Solar panels can be used vertically in areas with heavy enough snowfall to warrant it, and would still produce far more power in the winter compared to the thermoelectric.

The thermoelectric would only really be useful at night if a small rechargeable battery can't be acquired for the panel to charge during the day.

Ehh, from what I can tell based on reading through the summaries he provides on the later episodes of that series, he appears to be advocating for Anarcho-primitivism, even going so far as to say cities, and even modern medical care and medicine are a part of 'modernity', and thus unsustainable. He is not far off from a doomer, but instead is spinning it as 'letting go' and mentally accepting that we'll collapse into a more primitive state, which he sees as more in-line with positive ecological practices and ultimately a good thing. Some of his language even comes off a bit cult-y, IMHO.

I think there definitely needs to be severe degrowth, an end to capitalism, and a heavy focus on regenerating our natural environment and the species that live within it, but we absolutely do not need to have some mass die-off event to have a sustainable planet, we just have to stop the practices that are killing it.

Personally I use a single 4" thick HVAC filter taped to the back of a box fan, which has similar advantages to the Corsi box, but in a smaller footprint, and allows it to still be pointed at things besides the ceiling.

The 4" thick filter has far more surface area than a single 1", giving it much less flow resistance, so no danger of potentially overheating/straining the motor.

They are also known as HVAC or MVHR filters, which appear to be available in the UK

Based on this chart, you'd want an M5 or M6 rated filter to remove car exhaust particulate, something like this (though I have no idea if that's the best deal to be had, that site was just the first one that popped up from searching UK HVAC Filter).

Edit: Hm, I guess the bigger problem is that you guys don't really have box fans over there, and the ones available online there need a 120v step down transformer. Bugger :\

I guess you could still attach a 4" or 3" thick filter to the back of a large round fan, then tape cardboard cutouts on the corners that the fan doesn't cover, and seal the sides of the fan with tape so it doesn't try to draw air from the sides, and exclusively pulls from the filter.. That should still be pretty effective.

I think it'd be better to instead discourage the use of such apps instead of trying to shift them toward a vibe-coded app that happens to be open-source. It is not somehow less harmful or more ideal if someone's computer is borked with an open-source app instead of a closed-source app. The less harmful scenario is not to use them at all, and that's an easy stance to advocate for.

In the meantime I also found this video by Phil's computer lab where he tests your CPU, and at the end concludes that, at least for gaming, the desktop CPU's are better (but also assumes over clocking is an option, and I have since learned it's not terribly viable to do on coreboot).
