Hi, I've recently completed one of my first ferments, and it came out pretty good but was saltier than I would like. I used a 3% salt brine, and was wondering how low can I go for ferments? I was thinking of trying 2% on my next batch, but don't want to risk it not working. Any thoughts?

Hi, I've got a weird issue and figured I'd see if anybody knows how to fix it. I've noticed that most of my steam games that have linux native support just crash immediately when I try to run them. Running with Proton works just fine, but I was wondering if my system might be missing something obvious I need to run linux native games?

The latest one I was trying to play was Pyre. I tried looking through the logs, but couldn't find anything obvious to me.

Edit: Whatever it is, it looks like its not something simple, but that is okay because everything seems to work fine with proton anyway. Thanks for the help anyway! :)

Hi, I'm looking for some cookbook recommendations. AI and SEO slop have kinda killed my trust for most things on the internet, and I figure it might be handy to have some physical books in case it gets even worse. Also would be nice to have at least one book for low-carb recipes (my roommate is diabetic) and a book for vegetarian recipes. If any of you have cookbooks you love, I'd appreciate your recommendations!

Hi, I've been playing around with Godot to learn some game development skills, but I've run into a problem. I'm trying to display some 2d "cards" on the screen, and their texture is being generated by a shader. However, each card looks exactly the same, where I'd like some variation between the cards.

So I passed a seed value into my shader using:

instance uniform float seed;

And in my GDScript code:

func _ready() -> void:
    color_rect.material.set_shader_parameter("seed", randf() )

I've also tried:

func _ready() -> void:
    color_rect.set_instance_shader_parameter("seed", randf() )

Nothing breaks, but each of my cards are still identical, as if the seed value is the same for all three cards. From what I've read, the 'instance' keyword should let me pass a unique seed value for each object using the shader, right?

Hi. I've been using Linux for decades on my work machines, but most of my knowledge is pretty rusty. However for gaming I've always used a Windows machine. I'm thinking of getting rid of microsoft entirely, since I've been hearing such good things about steam & proton lately.

I was going to just install Mint on my gaming computer, but since there are a ton of experts here, I figured I should check in to see if there is any reason not to use Mint for this? And if there is any other considerations or setup I should be aware of to keep my games running well?

So I can find the platform's for green, liberal and conservative, but the NDP website doesn't seem to have one. Is it not out yet, or are we just not getting one?

Edit: Whoops, I was looking at the BC conservatives, I guess the conservatives don't have one either.
