The best answer is self-hosted/private music libraries but a less cumbersome option is Youtube Music. Premium gets you ad-free Youtube and YouTube music. I think is the best bang for your buck at the current moment outside self-hosted, private music libraries.

I know a lot of people are going to dislike this answer, but 🤷. I do still have my 2010 iPod Classic with my OG iTunes library on it.

You might have too much faith in the "Canadians are nice" trope. I believe Canadians are not more nice than people anywhere else, we're just comparatively less toxic than Americans. We're not far behind though, and slowly but surely accelerating down the same toxicity slide. We often get compared to Americans since we're neighbors and I believe that's the crux of the "Canadians are nice" trope. Canadians are nice... compared to Americans.

This is all just generalization though. I've met a ton of super nice Americans over the years. Just like anywhere else, there are great people and there are shitty people. Shitty Americans are just more annoying and arrogant than most in my experience.

All this to say, I've no doubt that there are plenty of Canadians that would push the button too.

I 100% agree if we're talking about employees with the capacity to earn more than a living wage.

You can't tie people to the actions of the company they're working for if they're living paycheck to paycheck.

Employees in the tech sector can absolutely afford to not work at Oracle or Flock or any one of the other antihuman shitholes like them. For a lot of these people all it took for them to sell their morality was a chance to make six figures.

I'm kinda concerned that this article mentions nothing about replenishing salt/electrolytes. Overhydration in the heat and forcing all the sodium out of your body via sweat can kill you too. Happened to a girl in Ottawa some years back.

I always have one of my 500ml bladders with a salty sweet water mix and the other just pure water. Salty snacks along the way help too.

Don't run in the heat with nothing but water.

which only worsens if I don't rest

Sounds like you need to rest.

Jokes aside, you actually need rest to progress. It doesn't hurt to take a week off or skip a run or two to recover. Slow down your mileage ramp up too. Slow progress is still progress in the end.

100% agree but can we get an F in the chat for the fact that Ottawa only has a single highway to access it and it forces you to go downtown?

The 417 being the only highway option is actually batshit fucking insane for a city the size of Ottawa. Hunt Club should have just been a 400-series bypass decades ago.

I'm all for removing cars, but in this scenario I think a bypass would actually help immensely as it wouldn't force people downtown. Imagine Toronto without the 401 and everyone forced onto the DVP/Gardiner. Nightmarish.

So we have a pear tree in our back yard that decided this was the year it was going to successfully bear fruit.

Its been extremely dry and we've been away a lot so I haven't cut the grass in about 8 weeks. I didn't even notice the tree had ripe fruit on it until yesterday. Stoked to check it out I walked over to pick some and noticed there's about ten full grown pears rotting on the ground below the tree that are just absolutely infested with wasps.

The tree is near our fence with the neighbors so I gotta deal with this fast so they don't get overwhelmed by wasps.

Does anyone know of a safe way to approach this? I broke my ribs and fucked up my back on a dirt bike last weekend so I can't exactly do anything that requires quick reactions or running away.

Any ideas would be super helpful 🙏

[EDIT] The solution was to wait until nightfall for them to return to their nest. I was able to pick up all the fruit and dispose of it with ease with maybe 5 wasps hanging around, seemingly in a stupor due to low light and cold air, instead of what looked like a few hundred during the day.

    Hey everyone,

Not sure I've seen this particular technique before.

Here's a tutorial on how you can use REAPER's stock gate plugin to generate MIDI that you can send to an EQ to modulate frequency bands to eliminate bleed in your drum tracks. This is super powerful on toms.

Inspired by the FabFilter Pro-MB bleed reduction tricks.

This is an all instruments/vocals scratch-made cover of the track that got me into Black Metal. A truly iconic masterpiece of atmosphere. I always wanted to do a cover of this track. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

Thanks to Yabridge (https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabridge) I was able to record, mix, and master this entirely on a Linux system (Nobara) running Reaper with stock Reaper plugins, many FOSS plugins, and a couple choice paid plugins; namely GGD Invasion and Sketch Cassette II. Everything else was free or open source by choice.
