And look at how many people think men can't get raped.

Well yes, but also no. Those people will still acknowledge men can be raped..by men. It isn't "men can't be raped" but "women cannot rape," and "only men can rape."

Many places, by law, agree with this. They say rape requires penetration specifically with a penis, else; sexual assault at best. That means women cannot rape men or other women, technically, legally speaking, in those areas.

Even women who do recognize men can be raped most often don't actually care, they just tell you how it doesn't matter because it "happens to women more." I can't deny that it does, but minimizing men's experiences like a frat bro because of "muh ratio" probably isn't the best look and they should take a long look within themselves.

Even if you can "legally" defend yourself. Ok, you try that. See who goes to jail tonight. Protip, it's you.

Even if you do just lay back and take it, then call the cops and try to press sexual assault charges, good luck! First of all, they'll probably tell you without proof they can't even charge her with the "max," sexual assault, there's no rape kits for men, and you're gay for not enjoying it.

You try and tell your friends and "cancel" her socially from the friend group? They'll call you gay too, don't worry.

So fuck me I guess, and if you're a woman you don't legally need my permission to do it, so that's something.

Honestly most of the hypocrisy is just the gang warfare we've backed ourselves into, "can't go against The Party™" so when they say some dumb bullshit everyone "has" to pick a side based on who said it instead if individually deciding what they believe for themselves.

Also a large chunk is frankly barely informed. I know some people who "support voter ID," and supposedly support the SAVE act, but then you dig into it and find out they support using a State ID (like most people) and when you tell them what the save act is they do see it as overreach, but all they'd known was some R they trust said it "was for 'voter ID'" and then their brain fills in what they take to mean "voter ID" in place of what SAVE actually is, so then they "support" something they're actually against.

    It's not great.

That's not being neurotypical. That's just having poor communication skills.

I won't even bother replying to him, that's what I'd have said, thank you.

Based on the actual women in my life, "blame partner for own communication failures" is the divergence rather than the norm.

YMMV. In mine it's about a 50/50 split, probably edging on the "blame others" side. I do also know guys that expect you to read their minds too though, mostly middle managers, and plenty men and women who can't take responsibility for any of their faults/actions (which is in essence the same issue, just broadened), it's not really a gendered issue, it seems like there's a general accountability problem these days.

    https://www.fastbound.com/faq/form-4473-supplemental-government-issued-documentation/

This is the software most FFLs use for complying with ATF's various regulations (Fastbound). As you can see, you still need the photo ID (or passport) regardless of if you also need a hunting license because you've moved since you got your ID and never updated, but the correct address is required to be on your state issued alternate documents if that's what was insufficient with your photo ID.

Yeah they're for sure not fun, but they're not always that bad. Recently they had an error on the NFA forms for anyone who had a "jr, sr, II, III," etc behind their name, just had to wait for them to clear that up and reapply, and it was all good. Some people for sure have worse errors happen though and you're right that they can be hard and expensive to clear.

That's what "nope" means? I thought it just meant "nope."

I figure something like "No I just want to cuddle with you and have a nice chat" would be a more descriptive way to say "nope," maybe we should look into that.

If "she wants to talk to me" then she should use more than one word.

Doesn't matter how often it happens, the fear can be there.

Take violence for an example. Violent crime has steadily fallen since 1993, yet people seem more scared of it than ever with the 24/7 news doom and gloom cycle's "if it bleeds it leads" paradigm. Moreover most violent crime by strangers is male on male, most often when women are attacked it's someone they know, friends, family, partner, yet still women seem more scared and distrusting than ever of an unknown man (while often still assuming the ones more likely to actually do something are "one of the good ones" no less).

Basically, often fears don't line up with reality. Like, I'm scared of flying, apparently I'm dumb for that, but idgaf, "flying still scary."

And that one was Yahweh which was kind of based on El anyway (it's argued that YHWH was originally one of El's sons until he gained prominence in the region and eventually was elevated to El's spot and sort of merged characteristics with him).

Some religious people claim "nuh uh," to be fair.

I hate to bother you guys with something this lame but I've been searching for weeks and I've been giving her all she's got captain, but I can't find this image anywhere.

The image in question is a "meme" (twitter post screencapped and cropped), the subject of the post was a metaphor for worker burnout using the warp drives as the metaphorical device. The basics were "the enterprise can only sustain max warp for X hours, it usually runs around warp Y. You can't work at 100% all the time." but y'know a lot more eloquent.

My boss needs to be accidentally sent this meme, "I totally meant to send it to a friend.."

Turns out catbox is blocked by like everyone, are there any good private alternatives that are not blocked by the masses that I can use to send files under 2gb with a "delete after X hours" feature?

Before you say Lufi, it refuses to finish requesting the file on the DL end, times out every time, on a 22.15MB file no less.

Any help would be appreciated. Trying to send a relative who "doesn't want to turn off her wifi" on her iPhone lest "it mess something up" a video. No shot I can get her to log into her router and disable the stupid "security" hijack that blocks catbox.

I want to get a camera that I can use mostly for nature pics and graffiti pics out the window of a moving train, and maybe a butt or two (consensually ofc). Yes I know I'm weird. That said I guess I'll need a "fast" one for the train, if that is the correct terminology (I think for shutter speed, yes?) The only other requirement is I will not download programs or apps beyond FOSS, preferably something I can just take the SD card out of and plug it into my laptop (linux anyway, most programs don't like me).

I don't see myself making this my living (and if I do then I can always upgrade) just as a hobby and maybe some side hustle if the opportunity knocks, so I don't need the best camera, but I would rather buy nice not twice (unless I leave "hobbyist" and move to "professional"). That said I was thinking maybe a DSLR would be enough for me (if not, I could be persuaded to mirrorless, just trying to keep costs down)? I've heard good things about the Canon Rebel, idk. I'm not really trying to go over $1k (and even cheaper than that would be even better) especially if I have to then buy a lens or two.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, I have no idea what I'm doing lol.

List is up! Let's see here..

Minor Arcana #13 - Still loving this series, also loved Fishflies so that's perhaps unsurprising. Something about the artstyle and the spooky small town subject matter just clicks (or should I say Crunch to reference the misprint in Fishflies lol), I hope he keeps it up.

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees Rite Of Spring #5 - My favorite series right now still going strong.

Geiger #20 - I'm so behind but I'm still picking them up, I'll get back to reading Fallout Man soon enough.

That's it for me this week, what're you pulling?

    Best Mastodon App? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I'm looking for android, but I suppose iOS welcome for those with iPhones.

I've been using Fedilab, but I have a bad habit of not checking super often and so Fedilab reaches a point where it won't say "load more" and leaves gaps in my feed, which I'd like to fix. Also was using it for pixelfed, but since that acct was deleted for inactivity I'm not using the multi-service function anymore, but multi-mastodon-acct support is still needed. Used Tusky previously but don't remember why I switched (like two years ago).

Been a couple years, so I figured I'd see what people like using these days and try out a few.

    Easiest way to contribute? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Oh neat an OSM community, and I find it organically two days after I decide I need to figure out how to contribute!

Well so my area needs some help, POI data can be spotty but moreso I have a few newly built apartment complexes nearby that (while they're visible on the map,) need their streets named and buildings numbered.

What is the easiest way for me to add this information to OSM? I'm aware of OSMAND+ and Everydoor apps for android through my searching yesterday and I've downloaded both (well I downloaded OSMAND+ when Magic Earth went shitty but just to use as a gps) but that's as far as I've gotten.

I'm primarily concerned with privacy and security, thus the interest in Delta Chat to begin with, but it seems to me that all the relays (at least the ones on the delta chat site's list, that is) are hosted in 5 eyes countries or countries that will soon be subject to the EU's chat control bullshit, or are in India or South Africa (two countries which I do not know about their own privacy situation, though the SA server is a ".wang" which is hilarious.)

Is there any relay that I can sign up for that's hosted somewhere like Norway, that cares about privacy at least ostensibly? Any other list of available relays?

I'm sure "it doesn't matter because e2ee," but assuredly some metadata must still exist, like sender/recipient or something. Unfortunately self hosting isn't an option currently as idk how to do that sort of thing just yet (one day) and also I'm in a 5 eyes country, so I'd have to VPS it somewhere.

I actually remembered this week! But I'm rushing at work and posting this during my morning constitutional so I'm gonna have to do this one quick-style! And I haven't picked up in a while my shop must be so mad lol. Let's see..

    Exquisite Corpses #8

    Sacrificers #18

    w0rldtr33 #17

Looks like that's it for me! What're you pulling?

Hey Monero people, I hope it's ok if I ask a few questions (and ok that I'm gonna crosspost this to monero.town even though you're phasing it out because the subbed number is higher), I trust you more than the LLM and ad filled search results.

What's the safest way to get monero from fiat anon in Current Year?

    • Buy, say, ETH kyc, and transfer?
    • Hodl Hodl or localmonero or something? (recs welcome)
    • other? Please share preferred

I'd rather burn a few bucks to not get ripped off, if it's reasonable, but I'm open to (I've heard you can somewhere) buy a gift card and do a transfer with escrow.

With Cake Wallet, I rolled a random name for my xmr wallet, would I lose anon if I named it a pre-used screen name(+xmr, btc, etc) and used subkeys? Who all can see the wallet name?

If I do end up with some kyc monero, what exactly does that mean to me? I still use it anon but have to pay taxes or something, or is it like, "now we know who is associated with this acct and you paid your weedman in XMR so now we send you to prison?" Should I have one wallet, kyc that one, and then send it to a second I keep clean, is that reasonable? Can I only accept non-kyc monero to my acct if I intend to stay anon? I'm so very new to this.

I'm really not planning on dodging taxes or buying/selling weed, actually mostly planning on using it as an inconvenient but private cashapp-type replacement (prob have like, btc, xmr, and eth wallets for variety just in case and store the funds as btc and xmr), but I'm privacy minded which is what attracts me to XMR to begin with, I'd like to plan for buying a gun that shoots fentanyl bullets on the darkweb and then in reality I'm paying my friend for watching my cat, or being paid for watching their dogs.

Lastly, is there anything else you think I'm too inexperienced to know to ask, but should be told? I mean consider me dumb, I don't know shit, I'm new to crypto entirely not just xmr or cake.
