But I could be doing anything else and I don't know why. I'll convince myself that a weeks worth of work can be achieved in a day, then get all stressed about it because there's too much to do in a day and somehow not do a god damn thing.

But I can't start yet, it's not HH:00, HH:15, HH:30, or HH:45.
The faster you get started the earlier you can go home from work
The faster you get started, the earlier you get a new task assigned.
LOL! I am not allowed to clock in one minute early.
I make sure to enter work one or two minutes early and then do nothing until it is time.
In theory, yes. For me, my most efficient hours are when most people have gone home.
my autism: I need to resolve this problem right here right now before I go
I've long since embraced the last-minute crunch. I'm confident in my ability to get things done in those last few moments, so I can procrastinate without a care in the world. Plus now I'm much better at handling big issues that come up with very little time to handle them, because I only would've left myself that much time anyway.
It also helps to never give 100% at work, more like 60-80% so the baseline is set. Then when things get stressful you can temporarily put in 100% capacity and shine without actually suffering much.
I can't work consistently. There are days I do nothing and others I catch up with the work of multiple days. To cover it up, I usually take over urgent tasks and "could anyone..." kind of things that come up so it looks like I'm always engaged and motivated.
Thinking about it - maybe I'm not doing nothing. I guess I just found a way to work around my shortcomings while still looking busy and helpful most of the time. At least I've never had anyone complain to/about me that I don't do enough in the past 5 years.
There are days I do nothing and others I catch up with the work of multiple days.
That must be nice! If I tried to do nothing at work for one day, I'd have no job the next.
Haha, you've described my exact mantra when it comes to work. It really does work well.
Way too often, sometimes I procrastinate less and finish some tasks before the deadline because too many times that I procrastinated and I ran out of time
Occasionally. Way more when I was younger, but I've learned to do shit immediately as it comes up so I can go back to being a lump doing nothing quicker. Sometimes, tho, I'll change trash bags in the garbage and put the full bag next to the front door for when I next go out and then forget about it.
