maybe take a gander through the list Blaze made of active communities which are not politics, news, memes or tech, there's definitely more than that around but it is a good starting point
in addition to what people said, if you don't find what you want, post it.
a lot of the smaller and niche comms won't have as many posters.
Gotta filter the word "Trump". Believe me, it won't leave you in the dark. You'll still get US news just not headlines that are rage bait

You don't need an account there, you can sub those communities from your current account.
You need to start by subscribing to communities you like. Then blcok user you don't like.
The key is to make some sweeping community and instance blocks right off the bat. Then it's a tolerable platform.

You need to block the political subs. At least the ones constantly posting tabloids or reposting Twitter ragebait.
Even thenβ¦ yeah. Itβs a major problem for Lemmy/Piefed. There are cat subs, but niches feel buried these days.
