Arguably "bigot" is already a slur, just one that's relatively acceptable to use

    Not really...

    Slurs are disparaging comments either false or twisting true information to appear negative.

    It's like "mud slinging" in politics, because "slur" is literally an old word for "mud" and "slurring someone" was "throwing mud at them".

    If someone is a bigot, and you call them a bigot...

    You're not throwing mud on them, you're hosing them down so everyone can see exactly who/what they are.

    Like, I get how someone would use it like you did, and I know I'm often overly pedantic...

    The only time bigot is a slur, is if the person isn't actually a bigot. An example would be getting called a bigot or antisemitic for saying Israel is committing genocide. That's the only time "bigot" would be a slur, if it was a lie.

    wt:MAGAt: both words rhyme with a word for a "bundle of sticks or brushwood intended to be used for fuel tied together for carrying." Apparently this word I'm not mentioning has other definitions by British and Irish.
