I'll be honest, I don't mind when people make alternative softwares that don't work with Nostr, ATProto, or ActivityPub. I mind when they refuse to make it open-source or use an LLM to create it.

Now we need Asians with T, and Africans with F, and Australia with Mate.

    Europew, Asiant, Africanf?

Not clicking your Rick Roll, so please summarize the likely 25 minutes long video in a few sentences. Thank you!

Edit: just realized that you might be being racist, and if yes. Fuck you.

Click the damn link, and go touch grass. Not everyone on the Internet is malicious.

The link wasn't a rickroll, that video is an accurate depiction of how things will be going in a few years.

SpoilerAlso what they said in the comment is literally just spelling out "WTF mate" like how Australia says in the video

Ok thanks for the explanation, but what does being Asian or African have any remote connection to literally anything at all to the WTF acronym??

Since the continent of Europe straight up assigned the letter W to itself, I think the comment just applied that same logic to Asia and Africa as letters, and then "mate" to Australia to get the full phrase.

It's pointless to have an assumption that the comment was made in ill will. I understand that these days a portion of the US population has those intentions, but I very much doubt many of them are on this platform of all places.

It's a reference to their main exports. Asians love Tea, Africans love to Fuck Fly, and Australians drink a weird german brand of caffeinated apple juice

Where would a fediverse server get the money to plant all those puff pieces in the press?

If they have money to waste on building a new platform, they have money to put into a instance and press releases for it.

If you have money to blow on a press junket, that implies you got venture funding. If you got venture funding, that implies that you had to promise them how you were going to screw your users over in the long term and capture them in a walled garden of extraction and exploitation. Hope this helps

It's such a shame that when I saw "free speech alternative" in the meme I knew exactly the kind of person proposing it

I still find it somewhat weird and mind blowing that the mangos social network is a modded mastodon instance

Why is European seen as a selling point?

On the other hand, you have major European instances (feddit.org) geoblocking a quarter of the world (Asia) and degrading the fediverse experience for any users there.
