BTW, there's a bug in Lemmy where editing out a URL won't work over federation, you'll need to change the URL to something else to remove it.

Seems to be a bug in Piefed's linkify code for punycode. It's transforming the the double hypen into an en dash.
It's relatively cheap (for Google), buys them a lot of good will and gets people contributing to the stack most of Google depends on.

The dev behind the Tesseract (a webapp for Lemmy) has a big list of users, communities and instances that Tesseract uses to filter things out. This list is obfuscated so it's harder to find what's on it and there's no way for someone hosting it to disable the filter. The meme is about the nearly 3,000 users that this list filters.
