    Its dead. If it were still alive the tail and legs would be curling instead of being limp like that. Ideally you should cook lobster as fresh as possible (alive) because they only stay good for 6-12 hours tops after death.

    Don't cook them alive bro. Just a cleaver through the head and a second later in boiling water. It makes no difference in taste/texture but is (possibly) more humane.

    My only source for this is watching a bunch of videos by that one lobster fisherman in Maine. I think because it’s a viable(can get pregnant) female which are protected by law and can’t be kept to help populations stay healthy.

    You can do this to disorientate the lobster. And even put it into a trance like state if you stroke its head while upside down...assuming its still alive
