[–] Jaysyn@kbin.social 30 points 2 years ago (3 children) Fun fact: that's not a defense for any of his crimes. Trump is going to die in federal custody if he doesn't off himself first. permalink fedilink source hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] Md1501@lemmy.world 31 points 2 years ago (2 children) We can only hope, but I have zero trust in the justice system to sentence him to any jail time. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Jaysyn@kbin.social 12 points 2 years ago (1 child) I said custody, not jail time. An ex-president knows too much to be left in General Population. As long as we don't fuck up & elect a Republican, Trump isn't walking away from 91 felonies. He will die alone under house arrest at a military base. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Md1501@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 child) That's fair, it would be nice if he they gave him just a standard house on a base. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago* Or a cell? permalink fedilink source parent [–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago If the justice system fails to act, won't someone rid me of this meddlesome ex-president? permalink fedilink source parent [–] OctopusKurwa@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (2 children) He could also try running to Russia permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 2 years ago Well he's already revealed all the state secrets, so there isn't much risk I suppose. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Jaysyn@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago That didn't work for Manafort. I'm not sure Trump's Secret Security detail would allow that, even if he wasn't under indictment for 91 felonies. permalink fedilink source parent [–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (2 children) I'm honestly surprised he hasn't gotten the Epstein treatment. Given what he knows, who he works for, amd his absolute inability to control his mouth, the people pulling strings must be concerned about the next thing he might say. I guess they think he might win reelection? I still think the moment he is more dangerous than useful, he has a controlled cardiac event. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 years ago (2 children) I don't think they would care. An upsetting amount of people would believe him, unfortunately. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Serinus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 child) This is not the timeline we want to see. It'd basically validate all the bullshit deep state claims. I don't want to be a country where politicians fall out of windows. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago I don't disagree with you. But Trump has a long history of obtaining money from international sources. Our reality is not the same as the reality for the rich and powerful, and their reality has different rules. I don't believe there is a "deep state," but I do believe that Trump owes people money and favors, and I believe those people would kill him to keep secrets he could spill. Really the only question is whether they can get to him, given that he has round the clock secret service protections. Before they got to Epstein, I would have believed that a maximum security isolation cell under suicide watch would have been safe. permalink fedilink source parent
