My problem with pineapple, or any other divisive topping, isn't the topping itself, it's getting it in a group environment.
For example: Someone is getting six pizzas for twelve people (don't get hung up on the numbers, just round ones for illustrative purposes), 1/2 pizza per person. But someone says "I want Hawaiian," and someone else says "I want anchovies." Now two people have a whole pizza to themselves, that they won't finish, leaving ten people to share four pizzas, .4 pizzas per person. And just because you like Hawaiian, doesn't mean you only like Hawaiian, so when it comes maybe you get a couple slices of Hawaiian and one slice of something else, further reducing the supply of mass appeal pizzas for everyone else. Every time this happens the "normal" pizzas are gone before everyone has their fill and 1/2-3/4 of the specialty pizzas goes to waste.
I've got a weird pizza I love too, but I don't request it in a group setting because I'm not an asshole (at least not in this way). Your taste isn't wrong, I don't think there is any such thing, but if you request it in a group setting (or your the one making the order and you get it for yourself) you're an asshole. And if you get all smug about it being "valid" and "slamming" if anyone dares to complain, you're a double asshole.
