▲ 31 ▼ Do the people who say "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" ever consider Heroin? (lemmy.world) submitted 17 hours ago by Patnou@lemmy.world to c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world 26 comments fedilink hide all child comments

If you can overcome the addiction, you will eventually come out stronger. It's not meant to be applied on an actionable scale, but rather on a strategic one. Kind of like "learn from your failures." permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Batmancer@sh.itjust.works 1 point 1 hour ago (1 child) Addiction can often lead to trauma, poverty, unwanted children, all sorts of degradation, so even if someone can overcome the obstacle of stopping that won’t necessarily make them stronger. They may even be weaker than they’ve ever been from the stress on their body and psyche. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] banause@feddit.org 1 point 1 hour ago It's just a light hearted saying not a scientific statement.
