Having a pre-calibrated profile from someone else with the same model is better than nothing. A second-hand colour probe is not easily available in all regions, and buying a new one for use maybe twice a year isn't a worthwhile investment for most people since they're only useful for monitors, not TVs. Especially now when OLED monitors are more common, and those require even more expensive colorimeters.
