Screenshots, how do they work?

There are a bunch of goofballs on Lemmy and it is honestly really hard to tell who is joking on a meme or shitpost community from someone who stumbled in there all serious.

Yeah, I got destroyed by forgetting I wasn't in green text and said something was fake/gay to be all /s, and I was totally in the wrong community and got obliterated in the replies.

I accidentally replied to a post on womenstuff browsing all. Then I replied to OP saying sorry, realized that wait I just broke the comm rules again, and deleted all my comments in a slight panic. Oof.

If you come into a post on that community from a feed on Voyager app, there’s no immediate way to know. Yes it’s pinned, but you need to click into that community feed or sidebar to find that on mobile.

I have no problem with the rule itself, but there’s a user experience journey that causes the rule to keep getting broken unintentionally.

All to say, don’t sweat it.

Everybody knows how screenshots work. The problem is social media's asinine policy of using relative times instead of absolute timestamps for some bullshit reason.

Put the blame where it belongs.
