But in Europe there's already FIBA that organises EuroBasket. permalink fedilink source parent [–] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 child) Could you explain what that means, please? As an NBA watcher and former streetballer, I'm curious. Anyway, my personal understanding is that basketball is alive and well in Europe via various leagues, and also has the advantage of the training programs being heavily endorsed by local communities. Whereas in the States, it can cost a lot of money for young players to attend camps and various training programs. Apart from that, the NBA already has a lot of problems, so if I was a Euro, I'm not sure I'd want the NBA trying to muscle in. *shrug* permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus -2 points 6 months ago (1 child) It's an issue with a certain salute and that's as far as i'm going to explain that rabbit hole. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] athatet@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 months ago (1 child) I have never seen someone make that gesture while playing basketball. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] P13@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 6 months ago (1 child) Doesn’t matter if it’s the same gesture, arms above the shoulder is uncomfortable for them. Also observable when Germans are dancing. Even if elbows are bent and palms aren’t flat, it’s just too close apparently. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 0 points 6 months ago (1 child) Wow i guess even you explaining it is too much for people here, down votes galore. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] P13@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 point 6 months ago I don’t even have an opinion about this, just an observation 😅 permalink fedilink source parent
