My old boss says she rather risk her life riding a weemo taxi than take a Uber.

When asked why, she said that an Uber driver dropped her off at home, after about 15 minutes, then Uber driver was still messaging her. She ignored it. After 15 minutes later, the APP asked her if anything is wrong because the driver was still parked at her front door.

She called the police and they showed up 30 minutes later and made him leave. Dude was at her house messaging her for 45 minutes.

Ya, I'm a dude and I would also choose bear.

    It's also wild to me that I've been told multiple times by experienced outdoorsmen that the most dangerous animal you can encounter in the woods is another human, but that's entirely forgotten as soon as the culture war revs up.

    Well of course, being that the other side of it is equating "meeting a man" to "being raped or murdered by a man."

    In reality, 99.99% of the time in both cases absolutely nothing will happen, but that doesn't stir up fear and anger so it's less fun to acknowledge that.

    You know how many bears I've seen in the woods in all my days out there? 4. Know how many men I've seen? Me neither, lost count somewhere in the hundreds (ok I never counted because it's such a common and trivial thing). In all those times, the bears kept eating from the dumpster and the men politely nod and keep walking. Ironically the bears eating from dumpsters are the more likely ones to kill people, and strangers are the least likely people to kill people (usually someone you already know), but still, nothing happened.

    I mean, I don't even need to google the statistics to tell you how outright stupid of a claim you have made here. Go and google for yourself, the stats on bear attacks vs human attacks.

    Like even if you just think about it for longer than 6 seconds you have to realize that obviously what you said cannot be even close to true and that you have to be a fucking idiot to think otherwise.

    Yeah, a bear lives in the fucking woods. That's his house, and presumably if you're not fucking with the bear, the bear most likely won't fuck with you.

    But another person? With unclear intentions for being in the woods? Not everyone is out to get you, but it's a higher risk than a damn bear. Especially if you're a woman, by yourself

    I love it when it mangles other peoples' comments in funny ways and loathe it when it also has the audacity to change my words in a totally imperceptible way.

    I will make no attempt to rectify this hypocrisy.

    Just turn it off. That's what I do whenever I see software "correct" something in a way I didn't intend. I'd rather have a typo or incorrect spelling than an unintended word. Hell, even the generally helpful ones like "auto capitalize" I'll turn off on desktops because they mess with typing out code blurbs for an email or document.

    Though swipe typing is in its own little zone where the plasticine province predictions can be frustrating but make of it usable. Otherwise I'd want a physical keyboard back.
