This occurred in 2022 & 2023. They are both still alive because of recent breakthroughs in cancer treatment. If it had happened just years prior, they would have only been given months to live. All traces of cancer have been removed from their bodies despite it being found far-spread and metastasized in both of them. Bill required immediate surgery upon discovery, his daughter went through a period of time where she thought she was going to die.

Captain Kirk beams down to a lush planet with an away team to track down the source of a distress call. Out from the trees emerge two humanoids with expressionless faces who confidently announce to Kirk that they will take over his ship. The moment Kirk begins to protest, the aliens freeze the entire landing party in place with some sort of device. The y are held captive on the planet while more of their kind materialize on the Enterprise through the shields and systematically take over the ship. They are Kelvans from the Andromeda galaxy. They crashed in the Milky Way galaxy when their scout ship passed through the galactic barrier and they need the Enterprise to return home - a 300-year journey across the void between galaxies.

The Enterprise follows a transmission from a Starfleet vessel lost over 100 years ago, the Horizon. to the Sigma Iota system. Because the message was sent using conventional radio instead of subspace, it originated from a time before the Federation's non-interference laws and the crew prepares to meet a culture that has been contaminated by Human contact. Captain Kirk receives instructions to beam down from an odd-sounding person and the away team finds themselves standing in the middle of a city designed to look like Chicago in the early 20th century, surrounded by gun-toting gangsters.

The original Sci-Fi Channel special from 1996.

The Making of Star Trek Deep Space Nine Trials And Tribble-ations was a documentary which was broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel in the US on November 4th, 1996. The documentary looks at the writing and production of the episode and features footage filmed during production of the episode. Some of the interviews later appeared as special features in the DS9 Season 5 DVD.

The Enterprise is approaching Deep Space Station K-7, which is right on the border of Klingon Space and within range of a planet in dispute between them and the Federation, when K-7 issues a Priority-1 distress call. Captain Kirk orders the ship to race the rest of the way to the station. Only, once they arrive, Kirk doesn't find a battle, but a bureaucrat named Nilz Baris (William Schallert) flexing his authority and demanding Kirk's men guard a shipment of special grain designed to grow on the disputed planet. Kirk grits his teeth and tries to appease Baris while giving his crew shore leave aboard K-7 when a Klingon battleship appears. But instead of fighting, they insist on using K-7 for shore leave as well. Now two rival crews must share the same station where a shady character has merchandise to sell... including a fuzzy little creature called a Tribble.

A man named Crewman Norman transfers aboard the Enterprise. After days of rubbing Doctor McCoy the wrong way for his robotic behavior, Norman forced his way into auxiliary control with superhuman strength and sabotages the Enterprise into redirecting to coordinates in unknown space. Once the sabotage is complete, and measures are taken to prevent the crew of the Enterprise from undoing it without destroying the ship in the process, Norman reveals he is an android and shuts down until the days-long journey is completed. There, in orbit of an unknown planet, Norman tells Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, Doctor McCoy, Lieutenant Uhura, and Ensign Chekov to beam to the surface saying that his kind needs their help. On the surface, Norman introduces the away party to his master; Harcourt Fenton Mudd. Mudd announces that he is the King of this planet and that they are staying there for the rest of their lives.

The Enterprise has been sent to make peaceful contact with the Melkotians. When they reach Melkotian space, a probe intercepts the ship and communicates telepathically that they are not allowed to continue. Captain Kirk, citing the Federation's desire to make contact "at all costs," decides to ignore the probe's warning and continue towards their home planet. Once on the surface, the entire landing party is lost in a dense fog and their equipment no longer works. The Melkotians announce that they are being sentenced to death for their transgressions and that the method of execution will be taken from Kirk's mind. Kirk, Commander Spock, Commander Scott, Doctor McCoy, and Ensign Chekov find themselves in an incomplete recreation of Tombstone, Arizona in the late 1800s being addressed as members of the Clantons. Kirk eventually recalls that the Clantons were killed by the Earps in this very town during the gunfight at the OK Corral.

The Enterprise agrees to a top-secret escort for a Troyian Ambassador and the Dohlman of Elas for a marriage of convenience intended to end war between their two planets. However, there is barely-contained chaos on the ship from the moment the Dohlman comes aboard. She demands absolute obedience form everyone aboard, including Captain Kirk and Ambassador Petri. A forced arrangement which becomes harder and harder for both men to endure. To make matters worse, a Klingon ship is detected lurking nearby.

The Enterprise is heading towards Starbase 6 for rest and relaxation when a garbled message mentioning the USS Intrepid and a set of coordinates is picked up. Just as this happens, Commander Spock suddenly goes into momentary shock. Spock recomposes himself and claims he just felt the Intrepid and its 400 Vulcan crewmembers die. As Spock is escorted to sickbay, Ensign Chekov scans the Gamma 7A System and confirms it is now completely dead and that the Intrepid is no longer there. Starfleet Command immediately diverts the Enterprise to that system and once they arrive they find what looks like a dark hole in space where the Gamma 7A System used to be.

The Enterprise returns to a planet that was the first away mission Captain Kirk commanded for further scientific research. He reminisces making friends with a local tribe of humanoids and particularly a man named Tyree when he and Commmander Spock hear yelling over the rise. They see a rival tribe of humanoids called Hill People laying an ambush with what look like Earth flintlock weapons, which the people of this planet should be centuries away from inventing. Kirk spots Tyree himself and some of his people simply using bows and arrows slowly walking into the trap and startles the Hill People, giving their position away. In the resulting crossfire, Spock is shot in the back and rushed back to the ship. With Spock fighting for his life under the care of Doctor M'Benga (Booker Bradshaw), and a Klingon ship detected entering the system, Kirk and Doctor McCoy beam down to the planet dressed as locals to figure out how just the Hill People's technology could have leapfrogged and to make sure Tyree's tribe is alright.

The Enterprise picks up a garbled distress call that seems to have originated from the USS Constellation. When they trace its origin into a previously surveyed star system they discover that almost all the planets that were there had been destroyed without explanation. Among the planetary fragments they find the Constellation, adrift and almost completely obliterated. When they beam aboard, none of the crew can be located until Commodore Matthew Decker (William Windom), the Constellations's commanding officer, is found collapsed at the auxiliary controls station. When he is brought to he immediately goes into shock and starts rambling about a planet killer, an impossibly-large beast that can devour entire planets... including the one Decker's entire crew had beamed down to when they were forced to abandon ship.

The Enterprise encounters the remains of the SS Beagle six years after it went missing. The Commander was R.M. Merik (William Smithers), an Academy friend of Captain James Kirk. Commander Spock plots the drift of the debris back to the fourth planet of the unexplored 892 system. When they arrive, they find a very Earth-like planet that followed Hodgkin's Law of parallel development and roughly resembles Earth's own mid 20th-century. Except their version of the Roman Empire never fell, and a planet with radio, television, and automobiles still has gladiators and deathmatches.

The Enterprise hosts multiple dignitaries from Federation member worlds to escort them to a conference on the planet Babel. One of those dignitaries is the Vulcan Ambassador Sarek and his human wife Amanda Grayson… who also happen to be Commander Spock's parents. During the voyage, tempers flare over a controversial vote to admit a new world into the Federation. This leads to one of the dignitaries being found murdered shortly afterward and Sarek being the prime suspect.

The Enterprise is at Gamma Trianguli Vi, following up on a report of strange readings from another ship that passed by. The surface of the planet is, for all intents and purposes, a garden paradise... until thorns from a flower target and kill one of the security guards. As they continue on they discover that rocks explode and random lightning storms can vaporize a person where they stood. An attempt to beam everyone back to the ship fails as Commander Scott reports that the ship's antimatter has gone completely inert, rendering the Enterprise powerless and in a decaying orbit. Spock detects a very strong, artificial energy reading coming from somewhere on the surface of the planet. In addition to that, the party notices what remains of the survey group is being shadowed by some kind of humanoid creature.

I had absolutely no idea there was any controversy surrounding her death. What a shitty thing to have happen to you after such a long and accomplished life.

I wanted to time parts of each episode of TNG that takes place on the Enterprise D and get the percentage of each episode. It takes me about 7 minutes to do an episode. Is anybody interested on taking on a season and adding it below?

I count time per episode spend on the Enterprise D. This includes internal and external shots. The holodeck does not count as the Enterprise D, unless part of the ship is visible (eg, the arch or grid), or part of the ship is replicated in a way (such as Geordi with Dr. Brahms). I include the credits as Enterprise D time just because it seemed unfair to count that time as being located elsewhere. I did not count brief switches to another location as this would have taken a lot of effort while only amounting to a couple of seconds.

Note that to save time, after recording the start and end times for each episode in the season, I put it all into an LLM and asked it to calculate the totals and overall percentage for the episode. I can supply the prompt for that too.

Captain Kirk and Commander Spock are surveying Argus X for natural deposits of tritanium when the air is suddenly filled with a sweet oder. Kirk stops working and remembers the exact same smell from somewhere else, long ago. He then looks very worried and orders their security detail to sweep the area for signs of smoke. Moments later, all but one of them are found dead and the other in critical condition. After beaming back aboard, Kirk orders the Enterprise to remain in orbit of Argus X against standing orders from Starfleet and has the crew begin to scan the planet for the source of that smoke. As more people die following Kirk's orders to scour the planet surface in search of the daedly phenomenon, Spock and Doctor McCoy start to become worried about Kirk's sudden obsession with something from his past that he seems to believe is alive.
