Welcome! Here, you can easily subscribe to a variety of RSS news sources presented as Lemmy communities. We have two bot users posting content:

If you don't want paywalled content, you can block the paywall user. Or, if you don't want any of this, you can block both or the whole instance.

If you don't see a community for an RSS feed you would like to follow, create a post in !meta@ibbit.at or send me a DM. I'll post announcements to this community when new feeds get added, so subscribe if you want updates.

Available Communities

News & Journalism

Regional

Culture, Politics & Society

Nature and Environment

IT and Tech

Science and Technology

Ars Technica

Streams

Art & Entertainment

Gaming

In addition, you can add any RSS feed to any community which you moderate. Send a DM to rss@ibbit.at with any number of the following commands:

  • /add $rss_url $community@$instance - Add a new RSS feed
  • /delete $rss_url $community@$instance - Unlink an existing RSS feed from the community
  • /list $community@$instance - List all feeds for a community
  • /help - Show this help message

For example:

/add https://hackaday.com/blog/feed/ hackaday@ibbit.at

Welcome! Glad to have you with us. If you have questions or want a new feed added, you know what to do.

Perhaps some wires got crossed with this one? I don't see it happening with any other posts so far so I wouldn't find a pattern.

How about Games Done Quick? They aren't on the Fediverse, but this would be a great way to follow them

Hi everyone. So I got a couple of absolutely silly instance bans from lemmy.ml and dbzer0. You can see the details on !deleted@quokk.au if you care about that kind of thing. It is long-winded obviously because it is rehashing parts of long arguments. Long story short, my sin was disagreeing with Cowbee and saying geopolitical / Lemmy drama things the admins don't agree with. They allege some theories that other things were why I was banned, but it's clear to me at least that it was that other thing.

Banning for that kind of thing is honestly incredibly offensive to me. I really don't get why someone would subject themselves to an instance where people are crafting their experience so they can't be exposed to "incorrect" political viewpoints according to the admins, who try to manipulate how they're going to see the world to be what the admins want them to be able to see and what conclusions they're allowed to be exposed to. I would absolutely never want that. There is too much of that already that you can't avoid. I have no idea why someone would be willing to be on an instance where that is specifically part of the experience. Having looked at the world as it looks from inside lemmy.ml, I think people there don't realize how vigorously the admins are doing that to control what they're allowed to see. If you're in that position and somehow seeing this, I would really encourage you to move (whether or not you care about this not really that important RSS thing). It may feel comforting to have everything lined up for you so that you're only exposed to friendly viewpoints, and the only people around you are "friends and allies," but that's not reality. It's really not good for you. Even if we assume that the people doing it are perfectly wise, their viewpoint is right, and they're never self serving...

Anyway, like I said, Ibbit.at is going to defederate from both dbzer0 and lemmy.ml for the length of my lemmy.ml ban. Seems reasonable that if they want to delete their people from seeing my stuff. I was sort of psyched that the "lefty news" community was building up and this kind of tribal balkanization between instances wasn't affecting how it was working out, but so much for that. Hopefully after the 14 days we can put this behind us. Maybe lol.

Someone tell them about it, also, since they won't be able to see this post, since I am banned.

I'm about to veto someone from an RSS feed for MintPress News, because it is overt Russian propaganda. I don't even know if they plan to raise this counterargument, but they'd be will within their rights to say "Well but you host the New York Times and they lie all the time for Israel."

Without getting into a comparison of the two, I think there would be some validity to that if they did want to say that. If we just completely removed !nytimes@ibbit.at, would anyone be upset?

Can I has a community for oko.press?
Feed: https://oko.press/feed

It's Polish only. Some articles are account-walled (although not exactly paywalled)
Does such community fit here?

Looking at the xml, it seems that <category> contents could be used as tags, if the bot has such capability
