This shows a person using Orca on Plasma Mobile on a Linux phone. However, he is using TAP to explore and not using the right and left flick gestures. So I have asked if it works with those.

If it is limited to tap to explore, then I'm not certain a fully blind user could use it properly, but a person with some amount of sight could use it.

This is the first time I have seen a screen reader working on a Linux phone at all though, so that is a serious improvement.

Edit: According to them, flick gestures do not currently work, but they will see if it can be added.

Hi, I wanted to know if there is a way to prepare documents for signature with digital signing methods like Docusign and Adobe ESign with screenreaders? With Docusign signing is straightforward, if prepared by someone else, but when preparing them myself I haven't figured out how to place signature fields where they are supposed to be on the document for others to sign. For Adobe ESign I can't place my signature where it needs to be. Is this a skills issue or are these services not accessible? For reference I use JAWS but do have NVDA as well.

Early this year I preordered this new Blackberry like phone keyboard that attaches via MagSafe (or Qi2).

So far - and I’m typing this on it - it’s pretty interesting. I’m used to touch typing, but my muscle memory was never trained for BBM.

Symbols seem to roughly match the iOS keyboard, dead keys work as expected and holding a key pops up the numbered list of accents like on macOS. That’s amazing for me as a multi-lingual low-vision typist.

Ergonomics are kinda weird and I’ll need to get used to it. Using it with the phone in landscape and zoom gives lots of space for text though, I like that.

Just some day 1 impressions, I’d love to answer any questions from BVI folks.

This release includes a built-in magnifier with zoom and filtering options (currently only full-screen). Touch support has been significantly expanded, custom speech dictionaries are now available, you can press NVDA+x to repeat the last spoken information, the Braille display can automatically scroll and more!

So #Facebook on #Android has almost entirely broken for #Blind users relying on #Talkback, the menu force opens when focus lands on it and traps, and you cannot activate almost anything without it jumping back to the home tab and trying to create a story instead. Maybe for a change @nationsblind will do something about this now instead of waiting 6-12 months for it to appear on #iOS…

NVDA 2026.1.1 is now available! This is a patch release to fix security issues. A bug fix is also included for an issue introduced in 2026.1 with how ctrl+f is handled in File Explorer. A change introduced in 2026.1 with how NVDA handles connection issues with Remote Access was removed.

Ok read a chapter today in #Braille, I started The Shadow of the Torturer (The Book of the New Sun 1) by Gene Wolf, and very quickly it was clear that this was the correct choice, I do not think it would be easy to follow in audio or TTS. So far it is exceptional.
