Yea, I was few times on the brink of giving it a try. But the focus on digital art is a bit offputting even though that is stupid reason. It just does not feel right... will try it one day!
Yea, I honestly don't know if it makes sense to keep the codebase or just rewrite everything. Photopea seemed to have created a really good alternative in the fraction of the time. Sadly (or maybe because of?!) on the wrong Platform (Web).
Maybe its salvagable. I honestly don't know what I am talking about, but considering the speed it currently is being worked on I feel like it can't be in the best state???
Affinity is great but I'm still on the GIMP as it does well enough for most stupid meme edits.
Yea, I read about it before but never tried it myself. I really hope they have a official "movement" in a similar direction. Cause I don't see that being accepted by "normal" people.

I hate to call it too early and jinx it but I think at this point its safe to say we got a Blender moment about to happen in Game Engines. I know these are all indie games. But the momentum is astonishing and with Battlefield using Godot as their Level Editor and more recognition on the professional level there is no sign of stopping it.
Whats next on the chopping block? Wouldn't mind it to be Photoshop, but I guess for that, GIMP would really need a grounds up redesign, UI and UX wise.
I think I'd be okey with semi automated submissions if they are managed by the maintainer themselves. There were a couple of security incident of long existing vulnerabilities recently. I think its fine if maintainers have a bot running making security audits to find and fix them before somebody else can use them. Of course if some human going over potential PRs.
Yeah, I was surprised as well. I believe most of these kind of apps get around it by advertising as a RSS Reader or generic Mediathek. But from the Screenshots its hard to mistake it for something other than a YT Client. Guess Apple does dont care about it as much as Google would.
If it works maybe we should keep it on the down low. Also only heard of it by chance.

No I cannot, they did not post the same post on Mastodon and have just recreated that account on there. Even if they did Mastodon does not track views.
Fact is if you leave out the drama which is obviously being heavily pushed by the algo and take a regular post informing about latest changes and news which is arguably the goal of an social media account of an organisation they are comparable even with 20x the following on X (referring to firefoxwebdevs as its on both platforms well established).

just got my Android Phone with LineageOS installed. (Pixel 3a (LineageOS 22))
Have a question now regarding Apps needing Google Services. When Installing LineageOS i have opted out of installing any Google Apps, at least I really do think so.
However, I just installed Aurora Store to install a banking app I need. I did not do anything else and only installed Aurora Store and the Banking App without microG or other replacement. It says under compatibility that it would work with limited features if Google Play Services are not installed so I thought I give it a try and see how far I get.
Surprisingly far as it turns out. Everything works except for notifications, but that was to be expected. But now I notice two updates in the Aurora Store:
- Android System Intelligence
- Private Compute Services
Am I correct to assume that these are integral to the AOSP/LineageOS? or does Aurora Store install Google Services when missing? I kinda expected that those components would be updated through the normal LineageOS update flow and not through Aurora Store.
Hope somebody can clear those questions up.
PS: Android is so incredibly delightful btw. happy to have switched back.
EDIT: Just checked and looked for those apps in the setting and there it even states that they were installed through the Aurora Store. Now I'm extra confused :(
Are you tired of wrong llm summaries yet? Well too bad cause I just came across my first one in the wild as I have that feature normally turned off.
I am currently learning C and I am not sure the summary feature is doing me any favors.
