I see this as an absolute win! That’s more devices than people who’ve played assassin’s creed black flag resynced in the last 24 hours. That’s a sizable install base.

I haven’t seen anyone suggest Bazzite here so I will. Especially if you like racing titles, compatibility with most racing peripherals have better support under bazzite as its goal is to support the most devices it can while steam OS is purpose built for a few specific devices.

If you’re savvy enough to, check out some channels like eta prime on YouTube. Maybe that can inspire your purchase.

I personally run a minisforum BD 775Si motherboard with a mobile ryzen cpu in conjunction with a Radeon 7800xt sapphire nitro + as my Bazzite box for the past two years now and it’s been a pretty stellar experience.

A while back I was able to use an nvidia m40 as a GPU while using embedded intel as the primary video output. This worked back then because laptops with nvidia GPUs rely on this hybrid GPu setup built into windows to conserve power and optimize for apps that actually need acceleration (windows surface book had a detachable nvidia GPu built into the keyboard). I did have to tweak some things in the driver to pick the default GPu. I don’t remember exactly how I did it back then and I’m not sure if it’s relevant any longer. I’m sure it’s better now that USB-C docks provide acceleration as well without needing to be connecting directly to the output device.

I’m sure anything and all of these datacenter systems will eventually find creative places in the aftermarket.

I’ve been saying this for a while to people. I think the long term use case for LLMs is the semantic human interface device.

Siri,Alexa, even google home?(whatever they called it), they all swung and missed at this. However evening able to provide commands unclearly to a computer and get the intended result would be a huge win.

I know the big llm inference can do a lot more but the cost is high for systems with that ability to reason however small, lightweight llms are actually very good for command and control.

This where my current homeland projects are focused.

You are right. The lack of true completely functional alternatives is part of the sad state of mobile OS decay we are suffering. I had already abandoned Nova launcher for Lawnchair last year. This entire android ecosystem is just less functional everyday and it's Google's design. I don't have a good solution and it's quite frankly embarrassing to be defending this OS as a solution anymore. The team over at GrapheneOS seems to be the one of the only teams who haven't lost the plot. The team over at FUTO has a good thing going (I use the FUTO keyboard). I will continue to support them and their endeavors, I just can't buy yet another pixel.

The solution is moving to a cabin in the woods with a Nokia 8210. I'm not read for that (yet).
