I'm curious about it's overall usage statistics, but I guess the best metric - downloads of said banlist - is in their hands. I've seen people saying they've used it at some point, but I don't think there were a lot of people. I'd go as far as to suspect that more people saw and reacted to recent news and memes about this frontend than used it at any point in time, total. My perspective as a mostly smartphone user is screwed though.

Do you play original DS or it's remaster? I found the OG one to have such a nice art and gameplay direction that I don't find problems playing it today. The way they show HUD on character makes it feel more futuristic than it should.

We blame politicians all the time for both just leaving their position or still being a part of it, there is no win on just morals before there's some result. And if this person was genuine about being an insider in the nazi bar, he could've learnt how to stay there undetected. Now we are presented with evidence conflicting his story of being secretly a good guy because the good guy part never happened and what we have is a retired official who did get along with what was happening before he got dumped and started to tell unconvicning stories. What he'd do now is the question, and I doubt he'd do anything, but it could be funny if he could leak some another damning info of how the second Iran war goes as he had access to real data.

Modern Russian and American tactics mirror each other in making up a "movement" out of disorganized thing they don't like (e.g. Antifa, there - LGBT), promoting it into an international extremist org, and then hammering everyone for being a part of said org. This process signifies a switch from a policy "you do you but don't tell anyone" into "don't do that at all". Just one step from criminalizing non-visible individuals for just being queer in a closet.

I haven't heard of anarchist becoming an org like that, but satanist became it, and childfree was at least talked about in the same vein.

Soon, it wouldn't be a problem, because the entire constitution that still formally exists is nearing it's complete rewriting by dudes who steadily promoted open fascism, eurasism and bombing european capitals with nukes: https://novayagazeta.ru/articles/2026/06/26/konstitutsiia-podryvaet-osnovy-konstitutsionnogo-stroia

Don't feel pity about me being stuck here. Watch for said dynamics in your place and do something to stop it. Please, don't let your place fall into this face first, don't make it another fascist paradise. Knowing there is still somewhere to escape to is a bliss.

    1. Is it worth it to buy server MOBOs and employ one, then two or more CPUs? Does KDEnlive or other Linux apps make use of multiple CPUs? Do I need to buy i7-i9 CPUs from the start, or a couple of i5 is okay? Where is the golden middle there?
    2. What about double vCards? Can any software use these dupletes or is it more beneficial to just buy the top single vcard? Do I need to purchase some compatible vcards for that?
    3. If you use KDEnlive on AMD, what are lifehacks to boost it's performance? What do you use for preview, render, proxy clips, do you use another hard drive for cache, etc? What options do you choose for preview and render?
    4. Have you tried VFX software like Natron (native), emulated Resolume, Nuke or Houdini via Proton or Wine, and how it went? What suffixes to use there?

My specific application is stage plays and performances by artists that I support with dozens of clips and effects played in the background. Thing is, now the base for those are mostly gifs and vids I downloaded somewhere, with some effects I added to them, rarely something I did myself from the blank.

I want to up my game by generating complex footages myself from the ground up, and for that I need a budget beefy PC I'd build on my own pocket budget. If it's possible, I would want to have a scheduled plan to grow it overtime from a half-capable initial workstation to the end game machine, while being able to work from the very start tp finish of said upgrade.

And there I need lemmy folks to help me with their knowledge if they tried that and have some suggestions.

To be transparent and honest: I'm a russian guy, currently still there, who never served and never used my skills to help promote war efforts or service, and never planned to. I want to build my skills and leave the fuck out once I figure out the situation with my gradually degrading elders I'm a caretaker of and EU immigration policies (as I'm poor). I'm paid leaves and marbles, I mean rubles, so my budget and availiability of hardware is very limited, but I'm ready to build the workstation for VFX over two or three years if it would enable me to start to work from some basic investment right now, and that I can then upgdrade it further.

Your russian drunk doomer here, now in a search of netwark knawledge.

In the timeframe of the last year my state tested and then brought to a frequent practice a whitelist policy for mobile internet when (supposedly) there is a danger of ukrainian drones flying through. The whitelist includes a list of state-provided resources, but also services that are under their dome, e.g. Vkontakte (vk), recently created Max (telegram copycat integrated with state services), Yandex search and maps, major banks that gave up the privacy of their clients one by one to be approved. If you have no line to connect to in the fields, as I do due to my work, all internet you'd get is just a couple of vetted web pages w/o any dream of privacy, not to say about extremist content like boykisser memes or just plain normal things like duckduckgo, wikipedia, your own network.

The landline internet is, with all it's blocks, still provides an open web with some sites blocked, and it still allows vpns/proxies to access what dady Pu won't want you to see. But the ongoing experiment of whitelisted access on mobile and a compeletely coincidential push for users to use state-controlled services made me thinking that this freedom too has an expiration date, and they would eventually instill a whitelist rule on any traffic unless allowed. And as they keep on listening to our traffic, they do block every free VPN they keep tabs on, and from time to time I struggle with my vray/VLESS paid third-party services as well.

I am thinking of becoming less lazy to get my own VPS (EU, local?) or/and to make some bridge from gov-approved bought VPS to my VPN, or how can I even start to work on that problem? I'm a bit lost there. My technically illiterate head cannon is that I have my best shot at getting a vps from a popular local hoster (e.g. in Belarus) that gets whitelisted, and pulling my tunnel thru their estate to some european location without alarming any snitches.

But what may I realistically do to provide myself and my folks with unfiltered internet?

P.S.: Aknowledging that I can come under additional scrutiny for the country I was born into, I'm stuck here being poor with sick relatives but I avoid everyting MIC- or state-connected, and I plan to get out if it would be possible.
