Limiter's master-only, and channel redlining is a pre-fader reference, not actual clipping. Everything gets pulled back down before it reaches the real output. Also, 32-bit floating point makes clipping a theoretical issue at that internal stage — real clipping can only happen at the final conversion.

    I can't recall any engineers being unhappy with me, but having played 100+ shows over the past 20 years, my memory could be off on some occasions. What I do is gain-matching into plenty of headroom. It's the only way to work with inconsistent source files, for one thing, and great fun if you have the ear for it. There is no clipping.
