That's what the policy was bak in the day. My friend used to get games a week before they came out to try. The thinking was that he would be able to discuss new games with customers. Now, this was before day 1 patches and online activation and all such. Not sure if they still do this.

I know back in the day, gamestop employees could borrow new games before they were available, and they still sold them as new. Don't know if that's still standard practice.
