As a Linux user, horseshit. windows 11 is better for 90% of users than Linux is and anyone who says otherwise is lying out their ass. If a single thing you need to do is from terminal 90% of users will think your product is shit. Why? Because it's not designed for them. I've used ~7 distros over the last 10 years. None of them has something that can compare to the app store, play store, or even the Microsoft store. We use Linux because we like ___. The majority use primary aimed at them OS's because it is aimed at them, and does it in a way that is easier for them.

They spend millions making sure that "I'm not sure" step can be done with a GUI menu.

Is it just for local usage on their network or will their be remote access via the internet? What OS are they installing on? Are they familiar with installing the OS?

In my experience Jellyfin is an easy install and easy to manage.

I run a few servers on an old laptop and I've messed up some random other shit on the laptop then wiped it one time, moved to another OS one time, moved to another machine another time. So I've setup Jellyfin I think 4 times now.

Overall it's pretty easy in my opinion.

    1. Find your ip- ifconfig

2.Log into router and reserve that IP so it stays with the device. (This will vary by internet service provider, if unsure look at the gateway you found in the last step, if it says 192.168.1.254 or such, that's it)

    1. If using it local punch a firewall hole for 8096 so you can get to it from say your Android/Roku TV, LG TV, phone, computer, whatever.

(Standardly something like: sudo ufw allow 8096)

    1. Terminal command listed here for the install: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/installation/linux/

If you like using docker like many do then you may prefer to do it in a container.

Anyways that should bring it up. Then go to http://the.ip.address.found:8096/ and go into the dashboard to set up users, pick what access they have.

Also where you'll set up the libraries, so say "Movies" and point it to where you store them.. you can point it to multiple directories

Oh and if a laptop change the close lid settings to keep machine on when plugged in and lid closed. Set all power settings to not go to sleep.

On an aside I set my VPN up as a split tunnel, easy, just Google your VPN and split tunnel, should only take a few clicks. I set qbittorrent and firefox traffic to go through the VPN, then I have everything else stay on local network.

I install Rustdesk on my phone and laptop, then remotely access the device wherever I'm at. Use the search function in qbittorrent, tell it to download sequentially, and download to the movies directory I want, launch the jellyfin app on my phone, hold my finger down on the movies folder, tell it to refresh meta-data and then launch the jellyfin fin app on one of the tvs.

Some time from "do you want to watch ____" to starting to watch it is ~3 minutes. If the movie downloads faster than you watch it, should have no hiccups

True, the one I always think was strange was when I was 6? I had a 1st grade teacher that was adamant we addressed her and others by the correct form of Ms/Miss/Mrs.

I was 6, I shouldn't have to care at all which adults are romantically involved nor which government documents theyve signed.

A lot of people seem to think that Democrat means left, it doesn't. It means they are left of MAGA at this point. There is a whole lot of right left of MAGA. Why people assume that every Democrat is going to want the same thing is the crazy part to me.

A good example is Charlie Christ. He was a Republican. Won Florida governor as a Republican. Come 2022 Florida voters were so far right voting for Desantis Charlie Christ ran as a Democrat.

It isn't because Christ was suddenly further left.
Had he won he wouldn't have suddenly supported views like left leaning people... He would have been a conservative capitalist like he's always been.

They claim they are "Republicans" the judges ruled that the representatives wrote all tarrifs must be made by Congress. (Ruled again in February 2026). Yet he made new tarrifs in July 2026. It's very simple to see every Republican who votes for him is anti republic/democratic/America.

MAGA is the Confederacy, it hasn't changed

Thought process: Elizabeth II became queen in 1952, the first bond book Ian Flemming made released 1953. Bonds whole story normally until they try to actualize things is that he is already married to queen and country, so he no matter what chooses her over all. The last movie released before she died. Instead of "shaking things up" by picking a younger Bond, I think it would be better if they just end it on a Bond many didn't like, a retiree. (Many did like him as well..). But I feel it would be a fitting ending.

If anything just bring a new 00 agent, one that's fit for a new era

My brother isn't a fool, but I am curious how many children especially in the Florida area will have to grow up being taught that it's the Guld of America while their own parents think why? while most of the world and country looks at them like really?

So to not be a complete ass and prepare for the future, what do you guys think would be adviseable to both address such in person, teach your kids to address in person, and address it in a manner so a child is treating like discussionn, not a "clash" per say .

I have to acknowledge there may very well be a time when my niece/nephew were told by their teacher in school, there is no Gulf of Mexico

Aloha, I'm being dumb. I tried to move away from using PIA- private Internet access do to some suggestions. I bit the bullet and finally switched VPNs after ~5 years or so.

I know others may say it's dumb but I was going to try Proton VPN. On my phone, no issues. If I run the installers in Mint though, I can't seem to get it to install. Tried the Debian install, tried the Ubuntu install, but no luck. Specifically the command sudo apt install proton-vpn-gnome-desktop Will always return an unable to locate package, even while running from the same directory I run the wget commands and such from.

Is there something that you have seen that works well with this? I need to set that machine back up for a split tunnel for a couple specific apps and not others.

So I was a fool, neighbors dogs got into a fight, not abnormal, but never had it been more than a growl and a nip and the dogs know oops they aren't playing, stop. Well the larger dog has been sick, (princess). So when playing the smaller dog apparently (new to the family ~6 months, maybe 3 years old) saw it as an opportunity apparently. When playing (German shepherd next door to them on the other side, so they run and play with a 4' fence between them. The shepherd can jump the fence if he wants, but doesn't except few occasions whole bored. (He came to visit me on Oct. 31 while I sat outside, put him back, jumped over and came back to hang out). I have no issues with the shepherd as he gets aroundy chickens, and does not hurt them. Today my neighbor heard his dogs fighting and tried to break them up. He tried putting a rope around princesses neck to pull them apart, but the smaller dog had her by the underside of the throat and would not let go. I heard it from next door and ran over. There had never been blood spilt before In their playing, but there was blood clearly now from biting around the throat and I couldn't tell who. I assume princess. He was throwing a 5 gallon bucket of water (near 30F 0C here) at the dogs to see if they would sperate. I hopped the fence and took the smaller dog who had the latched jaw by the scruff and pulled her off. Then got him to take princess to another small gated area. The smaller dog was fine with me, but when she realized playtime was over (tail wagging, madman of a young lady) she grabbed my forearm, I told her no, and pushed her off and she immediately stopped. (Yes she's dangerous and I was dumb). But her entire canine tooth went through my forearm and I had a hole near a centimeter round.). My fiance doesn't do well with wounds. She immediately started telling me I need to go to the emergency room, but honestly I'm poor, and I wasn't bleeding much at all. (I'm stubborn yes, but she missed anything important, I mean not bleeding like... 1/60 of a ketchup packet and no bandages.). Pure luck. So I cleaned it with cold water doused it on hydrogen peroxide and made sure it was covered. But now my fiance keeps acting like she's the victim, and it's an act of me against her. It's been near 10 hours, I have full feeling in the hand, no puss or heat, nothing other than mild swelling. I traced it with a pen just to make sure the bruise doesn't expand and I don't know. But Im just tired of getting told I don't care about her, because I won't spend money we don't have to make sure I'm okay when I got bit.

Edit: also I should say he's a great neighbor, he will come feed the chickens and give them attention for fun, if he has nothing to do , he will mow our lawn and help out with ever being asked. So ~300 worth of medical assistance, though he offered, I'd never allow him to pay. I've never asked him for anything, but he has been helpful for more than 4 years I've lived here. If anything I would swear I owe him money for his hospitality

I was trying to throw together some quick items to have something for dinner later. Some penne was left, some rotini was left, had some hot sausage I meant to use for a pizza the other day, but the spouse didn't want sausage that day, whatever, make a quick dish.

Cook the bottom of the box penne and rotini, throw the sausage in a pan, season/brown in, throw it into the pot of drained pasta.

Take the sausage juice/fat and add flour to it to start a roux. Everything seems good, poor in the last of the milk.. wait, was that thick. Crap it smells off, check the jug, best by January 7th. Son of a b, can't get that sausage fat back to start over, and the milk is gone. Looking for liquids because I don't have any broth or such in the pantry. Ugh

I made a comment earlier mentioning Limbitless and I am curious what it's reach really is, have people heard of it, has it helped a number of people, or few?

It was a non-profit starter in ties with the University of Central Florida to provide prosthetics to those whom could not afford it.

Edit: I just added a URL for reference in the body
