I hope you got the therapy you clearly need. People drop off the internet for all sorts of reasons. I remember bleeding friends because a platform died. It's just how it is. This can be their lesson learned that you actually need multiple ways to contact your digital friends.

If it were me, I would have been oh well too with my kid. Taking gambles like lying about your age sometimes doesn't pay off. Sometimes your parents just up and move. Somehow I survived losing digital and IRL friends because of things I had no control over. Learning to cope with that is an adult skill that you everyone eventually needs.

Facts are how you build up everything else. It pretty hard to reason about complex math if you don't understand how to count to 100. It's pretty hard to reason about how societies move in waves and cycles if you don't memorize something about history.

I think people don't understand that you don't just start doing abstract work. You build it a bunch of facts that you memorize and then you can start building higher level things like patterns and abstractions.

I know this from trying to teach my child basic concepts like what money is. What exactly is a day. How magnet work. The entire concept of estimation. These are trivial to adults, but these are hard won concepts that were build from concrete ideas for my child.

We know this is necessary because of cultures that are missing whole concepts like particular colors. The idea of right and left. So on.

Tell me how many people rely on you? Because being unavailable for hours can actually be deadly to a child you are responsible for.

I have 3 examples I have experienced, one with my own child where if I or the other person was just unavailable while they were outside of the house, irreparable damage would have happened to the child. Or in my in kid's case, she would have just died.

Spoken like someone who isn't responsible for others. My kid is ADHD and autistic. She's high functioning, but that doesn't mean I get to just be unreachable. I'm several people's emergency contacts. I have to travel unknown places all the time and be there exactly to get the help my kid needs.

I'm a single mother. I trade off whatever they are stealing from me for the ability to get cheaper versions of what my kid needs. My job is flexible, so it allows me to take my kid to what she needs with the understanding that I can answer questions when I'm away.

Oh, I also have a deadly neurodegenerate disease that is only kept in check by this specific medication that I need to be places for a while to get. I like my phone reminding me to go get that and also being able to fill out the paperwork on my phone because of my shitty hands.

A lot of people I see who are like, "Just live without a phone!" Are not the people who are actually responsible for people and/or things. I was like that when I was young, but then you know, I became a pillar of my family and friend network. People who are unreachable when needed are dropped from my network. I know several people who when I actually needed them and it was very dire, were unreachable. I left them messages and everything. Nope. Don't think they ever knew the issue. Dropped. Sorry even in the 90s and 00s, you were expected to listen to your voice mails promptly. I shouldn't have to mount a search party to find you, which is actually necessary for some people I know.

This person is missing that there are whole microc communities that have no equalvalent anywhere is. If you want to connect with parents of autistic kids, it's reddit, all the random hype local shard communities of Facebook, or hoping you find an invite to the countless secret groups you can't even see unless you know about them or get invited. That's it. There was an attempt to leave reddit during the API thing and it failed. Everyone has to move in mass or no one moves for these kind of hyper specific groups and they are mandatory for parents. The medical resources for parents are awful especially if your child doesn't have the worst version. Reddit is basically the only resource. Who is going to abandon a group to help them care for theit child over something like this. Maybe other things, but when you have limited choices, you hold your nose.

This is the easiest thing in the world for someone to say, but it's totally different if you wouldn't have money for rent, or medication or food if you lose your job. If you have kids to care for who might suffer for your actions.

I have a medication that prevents me from dying a painful slow death. Any damage I take while waiting for medicaid to kick in is permanent. My daughter has autism and adhd. I'm hours away from family.

Let's say I wasn't the lucky one who has savings, that's a hell of a situation to gamble with. I'm willing to not spend and my kid has already been pulled for homeschooling for her safety since we're not white. I'm not even sure what an invalid and a kid are gonna do at a protest

Impeachment just says that congress cam try him. Removal is what we want and ehat they never agree to do.

The US government didn't do well in any situation with an insurgency. This is to say nothing of the sheer numbers advance citizens have. It's why ICE is struggling now that people are resisting. You need a 10 to 1 citizen to soldier ratio to subdue a resisting population. Ice has 8K. They can hold a small mid-sized city. Which is why they are doing suburbs. And the population is be peaceful right now. They left immediately when it wasn't. See: Chicago and it's informal bounty program. And lol that Appalachia attempt.

Sure bombs, but I think Ukraine has proven that's not enough to stop a determined population. The US military might be able to subdue sectors of the US, but no way would they be able to subdue even the top 10 largest cities. They don't have the manpower.

Personally, I don't think we'll have a civil war. I don't believe if shit gets bad MAGA as a collective will hold together. But I do think we have a high possibility of balkanization and/or a the trouble scenario.

We do have Zelle. It's just no one knows about it for some reason. I pay my rent this way. It's also less convenient since people have to actively sign up for it with their bank and many don't, so I do cashapp my friends.

Because tweet never had any negative connotations before Twitter took it on. It's the sound a bird makes. Toot is slang for farting which doesn't have the greatest associations. It's also like skeet for blue sky. I get why the owners wouldn't want a word that has a whole and common on their platform community that knows that word as slang for ejaculation.

All I can say to that is that I hope people who didn't vote or voted for republicans enjoy this outcome. Regardless of what anyone thinks when it comes to the general election, you are voting either for someone or against someone. If you don't vote you're saying that you're perfectly fine with either option. The time to whine and be philosophical about candidates is during primaries which most people don't even participate in. That's how you can get your mythical perfect democrat.

Anyone who didn't explicitly vote for a democrat this past election I'm blaming for what the GOP is doing. The democrats are feckless cowards, but they don't accelerate everyone's ruin and sometimes that's the literal best outcome.

My mantra now is have the day you voted for. Not voting is implicitly voting for the winner. I hope that all the petulant people who sat out because their favorite wasn't on the docket or voted red because they have some shiny single thing they care about is personally experiencing everything that the entirety of the GOP platform stands for. I truly wish that they get everything they voted for.

Please, these are just the volunteers who either have years until reelection or are retiring. We know they are just a front because Warner voted yes and then mysteriously changed his vote to no. Couldn't be because his reelection is coming up next year. No way.
