I had a real time of installing Windows on a laptop because I had a peripheral that only works in Windows.

No trackpad drivers, no network drivers, no audio. Given Windows 11 now functionally requires internet during setup, I had to go get a USB drive, copy over the .inf files and have Windows find them before I could use the laptop that originally shipped with Windows.

Absolutely crazy. None of it was weird hardware either. Intel wireless, standard trackpad (not synaptics), realtek audio. No idea what the hell its problem was.

Domain names are just human-readable addresses for a web server. An A record is just a pointer to the IP address of the web server a given domain name represents. It's what domain name servers use to tell your browser where it actually needs to send your request.

Nvidia and AMD both have differing APIs for video decoding. The idea in using Vulkan is that not every GPU supports the vendor specific decoding method, but they do all support Vulkan (modern GPUs, anyways). So this way you still get hardware accelerated decoding through a more widely supported means.

A cursory search says somewhere between a 3060 and 4060, which seems about right. Games that parallelize well across the GPU cores will benefit, though that benefit will be niche if it exists at all. HBM2 memory is weird for gaming.

You'd see some benefit for sure, but this really is better suited to parallel computing, given the emphasis on CUDA core counts and memory bandwidth. You may also find you run into some latency, since it requires selecting the V100 as your primary GPU but a secondary card as the video output. Integrated GPUs work well for this, since your motherboard may already have this ability. Otherwise, you could use it in tandem with a 1030 or similar to get display out.

Do you happen to live somewhere gas stoves are more common? I live in Canada, where electric stovetops are more common, so stovetop kettles aren't the norm. Just curious

Ah, didn't realize it's the kind that has the element exposed. Those aren't common where I am. The cheap kettle I have uses a hot plate instead so I forgot about the other variety. Don't blame you for going back to the stovetop one then

Half n half, vinegar and water. Fill the kettle halfway with this solution and turn it on. It'll boil, limescale disappears and you can boil a second, water only cycle to get rid of any lingering vinegar taste, or wash with soap as normal.

Regular kettles will also pick up limescale and minerals after boiling water repeatedly. I've not found this to be unique to an electric kettle.
