I've been bitten by one. For some daft reason it got into bed and I rolled onto it. Tiny ouch, massive itchy swollen reaction. More typical of me than it.

Partner has had the living fuck abused out of them by both HammerBarn and Post. Awful organisations, but hard to avoid. Extra fun we now turn up on the camera system as to be followed around by bumbling fools who couldn't hide in a blackoutroom.

Curious if any smell would make it through production, like the bio diesel cars that make you crave fish & chips

I count those as SF. Romance heavy SF but still.

The fantasy/SF line is pretty blurry. You can have dragons and robots at the same time. Others have mentioned Tad Williams and Zelazny already. I'll add Melanie Rawn for dragons and magic, Charles de Lint for Faries in the modern world, and Christopher Stasheef for witches and terrible puns. And Tim Powers for a bit of everything!
