IP theft is probably the main one I’ll concede the point on - that damage was done long ago so they haven’t “improved” on it.

But whether it’s reasoning or generation or building things… that’s a crazy take. Unless you consider them like a chatbot companion? I wouldn’t really know much on that front, I’ll concede.

Oh I suppose I should say, if you’re not familiar with the *arr suite it basically makes it so you can just search for a show or movie, add it to your library, and come back later and it’ll be ready to go in jellyfin or whatever. Plus it’ll grab new versions as they come out.

Combine that ease of use with zero ads and zero bullshit and yeah, the net effect is better than paid streaming services.

The inverse is also a good question, as I left piracy behind for Netflix and was happy to be legit… right up until so many studios got $ signs in their eyes (envious of Netflix’s success,) and instead of building their own platforms and letting folks choose where to consume their content, the studios pulled their content and fractured the market.

I know that but don’t recommend FreeBSD for a newbie, whereas proxmox is Debian based and therefore has support far beyond what opnsense has. Plus the proxmox setup allows for far greater flexibility, at least on any level that is accessible to them.

Not even recommending against opnsense for the firewall vm.

Fully support using opnsense buuut pfsense has a good guide for doing this exact thing. It works really well.

People recommending against proxmox don’t understand how good zfs is, but their points are valid for this being a sole point of failure. I virtualize pfsense to gain cluster advantages but tend to leave not too much else on that box.

If you don’t pass through the card the VM can more easily be restored to dissimilar hardware. But those ports are dedicated to the pfsense/opnsense VM, leaving the single free port for proxmox management and VMs. I would enable VLANs for network segments but if you either don’t have switches that support tags or are new to all of this it’s going to be WAY less headache to just use it all untagged for now. (Spend time on funner things, seriously!)

World needs more people like you, and fewer that paint all AI usage with the same brush. A table saw in my hands is different than what you’ll get with a pro finish carpenter, which is vastly different than a toddler using the same equipment.

I don’t think I can put it better than them. So I won’t, but I’ll add that any major medical thing adds immeasurably to the stress. Financial and otherwise.

For reference I own a fairly nice house and pay more than my mortgage for health care that barely covers anything. I am not at my max out of pocket (2/3s there) and could have purchased an economy car for how much I’ve spent on health care (past my premiums; not counting them.)

I spent days (weeks really, but a couple solid days right beforehand) prepping for an appointment that was crucial to my health and life in general. Not overstating that: the meeting determined for how much longer I have to live a half of a life due to this condition.

The doc misremembered a few things, made determinations based on that misunderstanding, and left mid sentence. I have now spent weeks trying to clear up what would have taken another 10m to do in person.

You sound like one of the good ones, so keep fighting the good fight.
