From the final paragraph -

"But at least she’s made one thing clear: Being a conservative Christian woman and being racist are the same damn thing. She must have learned that from the holy books she’s never bothered to read."

I'm going to disagree because she is Mormon. The Book of Mormon talks about the wicked being cursed and the sign if the curse was dark skin.

When everyone was righteous they were all white and fair.

    "White and delightsome".

The story, for those wanting to learn more, is of the Lamanites. "In 1978, God changed His mind about Black people!" indeed, Elder Price.

Yeah, God changed his mind but many folks in the church haven't. I've been a resident of Utah for over a decade and many Mormons are plenty racist still.

that you have the right to speak the way that you feel, no matter what platform, no matter what belief system, that you have that right; and that’s beautiful.”

lol. She had that right. She used that right to say derogatory bullshit.

People found her to be racist because of it.

Surprise! People are allowed to react to your bullshit.

    Yep

I swear to God, I am tired of ostensible adults with an Invisible Friend in the Sky complaining that people not treating them seriously as "persecution"

You're gullible. You will be persecuted by opportunists until you are not gullible anymore.

Also you don't have the right to speak the way you feel no matter what platform.

A newspaper doesn't have to publish your words. Facebook doesn't have to allow your post.

You only have the right to speak freely. Not post stuff on private platforms. You also do not have the right to freely speak your mind and be immune from consequences. Only consequences you are immune from are those by the government. Other private citizens and organizations can still shun you or rebuke you.

Isn't she using the word in the familiar sense, not as a pejorative? I don't care much either way, it's just a beauty pageant after all, but this doesn't seem like racism to me.

In one December 2019 post she wrote: “N*gga I’m toxic asf…i dont care lol”

Other posts from the same account include:

“this n*gga has me 50 shades of fucked up…” (April 2017)

    “if my n*gga don’t like you i don’t like you .” (March 2017)

“your girl don’t like me but yo n*gga doesssss” (February 2017)

    “not yo n*gga” (April 2017)

A lengthy post accusing another woman’s “WCW” of “flashing random n*ggas and letting em take shots off her all spring break while u was at home working being loyal.”

Is she black? I feel like you don’t get to say it ever, if you’re not black.

The other thing is that even if it wasn’t racist, it doesn’t follow their standard of conduct.

This is why I try to avoid listening to any music that has the N word in it. If I'm not allowed to say it, I don't want it running through my subconscious. I don't want to place landmines in my vocabulary. That rule kinda sucks though because there are some great songs that use it. I want to be able to sing along with songs that I'm grooving on without having to self censor.

How recently? Or does it matter?

The last time I heard about this person, it sounded like she had some skeletons in her closet, but hadn't said anything bad recently, and was recently telling people it doesn't matter how you're made, to follow your dreams regardless.

I guess there isn't an expiration date on racism, homophobia, or any of that, but the Miss USA or whatever group has said in a couple other articles about this case that people are allowed to grow, to learn, and to be forgiven, so I was wondering what the problem was. I guess we know now, but if what she said wasn't too recent, and if that hate doesn't have an expiration date... maybe they should stop saying that.

Overall I think these beauty pageants are overly toxic. They start modeling these young women from a very young age — look at what happened with JonBenet Ramsey in the 1990s. Just what the pageants did to her was unnatural, weird, and borderline cruelty. The effect it had on her family... well, one of them ended up killing her. The fact that they aren't saying points strongly to the brother — I think, if it were one of the adults, they would have been arrested. This whole modeling industry, it's just garbage.

My guess is there was more going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about. Usually old posts don’t get dragged up unless there was a reason to.

Granted, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone was being catty, but whatever.
