I want to see The Rock in a remake of The Rock.

Idc let the guy live his best life. He can be passibly funny, I'm not watching these movies to be intellectually simulated.

The dude knew he was typecasted but grew rich doing it. Can't really fault him for taking on work offered and promoting the shit out of it. I only wish other former wrestlers like Bautista were offered more roles, I really liked his role in Blade Runner 2049.

And he made a great confused meatball. Until he became obsessed with his "brand".

    The Rock is cooked.

With the exception of Polynesian-specific roles like in Moana, Bautista can play every character the Rock can, and so many more.

    The Rock is cooked.

"Dwayne Johnson's net worth is estimated at $800 million as of 2026."

Sigh, I wish I was so well cooked.

I would settle for half as well cooked.

Let's be honest, 0.1% of that would be life changing for anyone reading this

  • He doesn’t even act. He’s just there

The slow fall of The Rock is painful. Maybe because I haven't actually watched enough of him to know why people think he deserves it.

He is what he is. He's egotistical, but what do you expect of someone obsessed with his physique and popularity? So is Schwarzenegger and people love him. Johnson doesn't shy away from self-effacing roles, and I like his ability not to take himself too seriously. He always turns in the performance he's paid for. He is always promoting himself, which I find annoying but I just don't pay attention to him.

I think he's nailing the assignment, but if anything, he's facing audience fatigue, and people are just not excited to see him any more. I'd be there for a new Riddick movie, though, and he's great in comedic roles. I honestly can't remember if I saw the last Fast and Furious movie, and I don't care.

    Edit: confused my meatheads.

I'm sorry, do you think Dwayne Johnson played Riddick?

Oops. He's also interchangeable with Vin Diesel. I thought about Fast and Furious and got my meatheads confused half way through. Vin is the same but takes his work less seriously.

I've also had a couple of mimosas today.

The last Fast and the Furious movie sucked. Everyone felt like they were being held at gunpoint to be in that film except Momoa and Cena, and I think both were fresh to the franchaise. Their scenes were the only worthwhile ones.

That said, it ended on a cliffhanger so they kind of need to make at least one more.

Are there any that don't suck? I never saw any.

The early ones are pretty good. They start to really go off the rails around 5 or 6, but they were still kind of good fun action with cars. Starting at like, 7 or 8, they started really dunking.

Probably the most annoying bit is how literally every villain ends up becoming a redeemed hero, its stupid.

The first one is fantastic. 2 is also very good. Toyko Drift is great if you can get over a 24 year old actor playing a high schooler. 5 is a good as an over the top action movie. The rest get progressively worse the newer they get.

I don't think it's really about the movies. He always knew his success was temporary and just pumped out movies while he was still getting high paying roles. A lot of them were very entertaining, but everyone knew there was limits to how long that formula could keep going.

His public persona suffered quite a hit after the whole DCU thing I think. He really wanted to be Black Adam, but that character starts off as a villain. That was an issue, because Dwayne Johnson always has "I don't lose any fights" in his contracts. So obviously he can't be a movie villain, because the villain isn't supposed to win. So they skipped straight to where he is a hero, without the build-up, and everyone learned that his contracts require him to never lose a fight, which makes him come off as an ass, unlike his public profile prior to that.

Then he stages some kind of DCU coup which I'm not sure how he has the chops to do, and spends a lot of political capital on getting Henry Cavill back as Superman, but immediately after the whole DCU leadership is upended and all of that is scrapped. I don't know how that affected his industry connections, but I doubt it was in a positive way.

TL;DR: Everyone knew Dwayne Johnson wouldn't last, including himself, which is why so many movies with him were pumped out while he was still on top. Then he lost some popularity among fans and execs due to some DCU stuff.
