My life experience as a 5'5" trans gal:

As a repper: "why does my family have to be so short? This is awful. No one will take me seriously."

Post-transition: "I won the god damned lottery."

I assure you I've had my own troubles and challenges in life. But at least in this area I got pretty lucky.

Though even then, it's complicated. Yes, I'm 5'5", but the only way a trans gal is 5'5" is if she comes from a family of short people. I'm the same height as my dad and brothers. I tower over my mother and sisters. They're more like 5'1".

I used to think I was a hot commodity in the gay community until I realized it was only the ugly old guys hitting on me. Never the hot young ones. Let me tell you, my illusions were shattered. But then I got older and the young hot ones started giving me fuck-me eyes and now my illusions are back again

Yeah, when I started getting visibly grey hair the baby gays started to gravitate towards me. I'm still a little mystified by it TBH, I guess I have the Dommy Mommy thing down pat, lol

it seems alot of gay couple in my area, 1 of them is always older40+ and the other one is a 20+ usually buff/hot something year old. probably looking for a daddy figure, or look at a financially well off partner? other than that its mostly people the same age usually for younger gay couples. gay adult entertainment might have something to do with that perception.

I'm 53 and what the kids call omni. Once I hit my forties i was suddenly getting hit on by young CIS men, young CIS women, young trans men and young non-binary folk. Not young trans women though. Only trans women close to my age showed interest, and only if I pursued first.

Hey just fyi cis isn't an acronym, just a normal word :) it just means "the same" or "together" (referring to ones gender and sex)

Thanks. I do know but the capitalization is my phone's autocorrect. CIS is shorthand for a system we use at work. So is CUM for cumulative and HEAD for head-end. There is a monitoring module in one of our client's called "CIS CUM HEAD Flow". I am certain that was on purpose, but that's it's name. E-mail alerts subject lines stating "CIS CUM HEAD FLOW above threshold" are a thing.

the top pic, is all superficial and you encounter them on dating apps alot i never used one but my bro does, they either went 6ft, or 7-10inch penises(as soon as they know you are asian they will ask that), and then INCOME range, which also attract different kind of partners.

the bottom one is different since it likely stems from adult entertainment,

I have encountered maybe 5 people like that ever on dating apps, and I use dating apps a lot.

    This stereotype is wildly exaggerated.

I've been on dating apps a lot and I've seen tons of the ones mentioning height. Standard is "under 180 swipe left".

Far from a majority, but maybe 5-10%? And that's just the ones that mention it in the bio, some may still have prejudice against shorter guys but not mention it in the bio.

Gave up on the apps myself, I'm a lot better in person and you can't tell I'm 2 centimeters under the legal lower limit for manhood (aka just under 180 cm).

It drives me crazy how hung up people get over the 6' label; it's mostly dating app bs. The guy in the comic is taller than both of the women, which is generally all that's required to be successful in the dating pool. Sure some women are insistent about the 6' limit, but so what? Given how many people refuse to date outside their race/religion, you're already not going to attract everyone, so if you're under 6' add the height-obsessed to that list and move on.

The morale is to not use dating apps. They are all owned by the same company, whose goal is to be profitable by making you addicted.

edit: the rationale behind my comment is that I have read often these insane requirements on e.g. Tinder, but have not yet met a woman in real life who talks like that.

people who get so hung up on hight are often the worst to talk to because they are so superficial. You forget that you also have to like each other

But he's taller than both the girls in the top picture. How is that even short?

So, anecdotal, but I have found this runs both ways. Tall guys go for short girls. Short guys go for girls shorter than them usually. Guys my height (the average height here) are less likely to care.

Average height of men in the US is 5'9" or a smidge shorter, for women 5'4" or a smidge shorter. In this YouGov survey the title was "ideal height for a woman is 5'6", for a man 5'11" which I think is kind of funny, like everyone just wants to be two inches taller.

Unless you're significantly taller than the average for your gender and it contributes to your gender dysphoria. If I didn't lose 3 inches from peak height, I'd feel so much worse about myself.

Woah is that safe? Losing height? I'm 5'9" and a woman and honestly always wanted to be 5'10". Dad was 6'4" so I had hope but no. Don't actually care if it knocks out guys, nobody needs to be universally attractive, just a good enough person overall to find what they are looking for.

Glad for you, though - happy it helped you feel more womanly, that must have been a nice surprise.

  • I lost about an inch before starting HRT (don't fully understand how that happened), and the rest from it. It's not uncommon to lose an inch or two, not because bones shrink, but because ligaments change length. Same goes for my feet; I lost a size and a half. I definitely feel shorter, which is nice, but I still wish I lost a few more.
