I found this girl in an unfortunate location in the garden that required me to rehome her, and I decided to keep her in my collection - at least for now.

This is the first Latrodectus species I've kept in captivity, though I've wanted to keep one for a while.

When I've found Black Widows it's always been in an unfortunate location, where they're hidden but I'm likely to put a hand on them unexpectedly. I accidentally and suddenly relocated several, over the rail of my balcony, when I picked up a plant pot barehanded and was startled to realize it was crawling with them. The pot landed on a bush so I hope some survived but I wasn't going to check.

I hope you have "cover" for her so she's not stressed, and secure containment so nobody else is, either.

Love Latrodectus spp.

We have 3 subspecies of ~~katana~~ Katipō in New Zealand and it has been 30 years since I’ve seen one in the wild, we also have a couple of small populations of Australian Red Back
