It seems like no matter how many times I set my language to English in my profile settings, I have to set my language to English when I submit any comment or post every time.

I don't know what happens when I just ignor that drop-down, but I'd like to avoid reinforcing the Americentric Internet issue where non-English speakers have to sort through a slew of posts they can't (or don't want to) read in English just because that's the default and nobody bothered to tag them.

Put differently, if say, a Spanish reader gets posts that are labeled Spanish as well as any post that are not labeled, there's a good chance the vast majority of posts are English, which is probably pretty annoying. I don't want to do that to people.

I don't think that's possible.

You could submit a feature request here if there isn't one already: https://github.com/Fedihosting-Foundation-Forks/lemmy-ui

    Fair enough. Thank you.

I would also politely suggest that there be some other feature request pipeline that doesn't require a Microsoft-tied account; I doubt I'm the only one out there who is Microsoft-averse. There's also the technical skills necessary to navigate GitHub, which not everyone has; GitHub is by-and-for coders, and most non-coders have never even heard of it, let alone know how to properly submit an Issue.
