A whole lot of this hate feels like people piling on to pile on, hopping on the bandwagon to be part of the in-crowd, with no personal experience to actually draw from.
That's basically "The Internet" in a nutshell. Chuds on Twitter or wherever want to hate something and for whatever reason the rest of the Internet follows along. Twitter is a place of hate, nothing good comes from there. It's not a real place. Fuck em.
And I'm picking on Twitter, but fuck the whole lot of em. And I don't exclude Lemmy from this. I've jumped into threads on previous media that is just terrible dishonest mindless chatter. But this isn't new. Rage sells. But it's not real. It's not genuine. It isn't worth engaging with.
I've seen the film. I've read this article. I don't agree with it 100%, but it's pretty fair. Supergirl is a mostly mid film, leaning towards good. Somewhere between a 6/10 and a 7/10.
In a world of the MCU during its prime, when we got three films a year, it's Thor: The Dark World. Remember that film? And I don't mean the part that shows up during Endgame. But no, you don't remember it. But you might remember a few cool moments from it. Whatever we've got plenty more to see. Except we don't at the moment.
This is the follow up to Superman. This film needed to be a big hit. We're getting one film a year. (Plus some TV shows. Also Clayface but that's tonally a whole different beast.) So when this misses, it's going to miss big.
If you're excited for Supergirl, if you're seeing it this opening weekend, you'll find things to enjoy, I know I did. If you're on the fence, watch Supergirl when it hits streaming. You'll see the problems, but you'll still have some good moments to enjoy.
