Why would you leave them?

How thoughtful! They know you'll be needing some of their companionship during your trip, even if only in the form of fur left behind.

A suitcase is just a luxurious version of THE BOX.

Every time I started packing to go to hospital, my cat would sit in my suitcase. Not sure if she wanted to come or thought she could stop me leaving. And then when I got back, she would give me the silent treatment for a week.

I have photos of my cat in my luggage from practically every long trip I’ve taken in the last ten years :3

Ooh, where are you going? The flip-flops make me think it's somewhere fun.
