Its being used as a new coat of paint for Great Replacement theory, "we must look out for our own", etc. Trying to guilt trip people for having empathy for minorities and suggesting that assissting the poor, homeless, disabled, etc will destroy modern civilization.

So the usual fascist/imperialist talking points that have been around for over a millennium. I'll be honest, its the first I've heard of it and decided to look it up, because the phrase by itself conveyed nothing to me personally.

Oh shoot, there's a Wikipedia entry and everything. I had assumed that if I looked it up, I'd only find fascist sources and I didn't want to deal with that. Thank you for doing the work I should have done myself.

No, it only makes sense as a worldbuilding thing for games where everyone has The Evil Plague That Makes Them Evil. Mutual aid is actually a factor in evolution. Have you heard about this.
