I live in the US and just bought a pair of Fairbuds XL which I like so far but I'm a bit annoyed they don't have a 3.5mm jack and don't come with the USB-C to 3.5mm cord either. They don't seem to stock it on their Amazon store and since I'm in the US I can't order from their website either.

What other options do I have? Can I used a generic USB-C to 3.5mm dongle to use them wired? Or do I need Apple's $40 USB-C to 3.5mm cable?

there are two types of USb-c to 3.5mm dongle afaiak, to do with providing power. Try a cheap one, no harm no foul? it will either work or it won't, it won't damage anything
