The shame is that this option is needed. Toxic masculinity is so prevalent and infiltrates everything. Boys not raised well. Sad.

I have a real issue with you adding not able to be raised well. As a father of a boy. Let me tell you it's absolutely the parents. You can raise boys well.

And if you are the only person in the world that would be enough, but selfish assholes like yourself are why the world is so broken, cause isnt enough and it never will be either

Assuming what you are doing is good enough because in your little emotional ass world it is (according to you, the world and reality disagrees but to you other people don't actually exist based on your coward "logic" here)

The rest of humanity are all fucked up and your doing exactly nothing to change that and now you come in here with your guilty ass conscience to the comment section to pretend your above the whole problem like its gonna actually magically fix itself by you raising your kid right. And the only reason your doing that honestly? To feed your dumb need to be better then others without the reality to back you up enough, just a social permission slip to believe your own false reality

So fuck you, and also your shitclown attempt at playing for a crowd here dude instead of any kind of nuanced understanding of the issues

Edit: Good luck when their friend/girlfriend/coworkers/whoever the fuck influencers, grifters, do badders get them all fucked up cause they get better at manipulating them then you do a job of raising them so-called 'right', or they'll just isolate away from others the same cowardly way and the world will stay perpetually fucked up cause you arent gonna be who they need you to be to help fix them, so you come on here and state the obvious, to applause you know is coming, instead of actually doing the hard work to be done.

Time to reach out (read: engage with in any way, shame, witness, intend to understand and help. Not just sit and pretend that your winning some game) but reach out to the quote unquote, 'bad' parents, even if its "unsafe" or "hazardous" or not good for your "mental state" cause they also got left behind by their last generation, now you would actually be doing something about it rather than cowering behind the indulgences of self appreciation all about you by not directly being an 'actively participating' part of the problem and instead just indirectly by fucking off from the cause. Lucky you then cause that's all luck and no real work on your part other then maintaining or growing what is already easy for you to handle, understand and witness. You probably had life on easy street. Its not like that for them and they know that shit.

Deal with the problem directly to self aggrandize this much, on purpose, to get some self validation for something you already know is right and should be enough just to do it, cause doing that shit actually needs that help and justifies itself.

The actual problem is, that you don't know how easy it is to be like them given their chemical norms, their witnessing and THEIR experiences. Its so simple to believe that macho shit from birth(its "natural" and thus justified in some way (if you never learned critical thinking skills by being born "right"), violence is the underpinning to all ownership and that makes you stronger and more able to protect yours, it works so fucking well and is entirely justified sometimes no matter your personal philosophy, its so powerful and it makes others feel more powerful/secure by proximity to it, and you seem pretty dumb to people like them for not all "getting that" by 'instinct' alone. Feeds right into the nature thing, see how easy it is to do (now imagine its crazy liberating and empowering all thoughout inside your brainspace) ('Instinct': read: built in, innate. Cause there are plenty of advantages to being prepped for violence, pray you never have to need it and not have it type idea))

So deal with it or get out of the way/get fucked up by its not having being dealt with by stronger men and women. Spent time and effort here today you would be likely ill equipped to handle. So thesis is that toxicity is not an inherent wrong or a truely "bad thing", it depends how and why, where its directed and why its being used at all, you might see this as toxic, but you need it or something like it (to get through your superiority complex bulit right in to your self esteem) its healthy to your "body" at this time (that its not right about something and this is how to get the info understood/digested)

Welcome to the toxic paradox mfers 😎👍

Hope your kids see you for what you are 👍

A cowardly little man hoping to insulate them from the real world and act like he's a hero for doing it cause he's a just a big ol lame asshole and he's afraid of them so now they have to be too to justify him doing it (and so the cycle repeats itself)

Starving people 'can and should' just eat - your head is mixed up bud can only see the carrot dangling in front of ya face, motivating only for yourself, but failing to see the bigger picture because you don't get it type deal, and is your own fault by your merit system

You "can" and "should" get this. But you dont. Starting to see how that works? Its universal experiences. Youre not privileged to know right from wrong here so your stuck here being an ass and hoping for the best (like everybody you don't like does it 😇)

please tell me there is no penalty to those women taking this option. It would be so easy for Uber to pull a "only $5 more" to get a ride or "5% less" to avoid a rider.

Just to be clear: this is not about protecting people.

This is just another squeeze, wringing the next few drops of accountability out of their sector.

They’re not really employing the drivers, so they’re not responsible for vetting them. And they’re not really selling rides, so they’re not responsible for what happens during one.

So what’s next? “Oh, we told drivers to get interior cameras, we told riders to be careful, we gave them checkboxes!”

Anything at all that they can spin as a value-add to shareholders, rather than allowing for any amount of responsibility towards the well-being of people who interact with their systems.

The alternative option, Uber running background checks on their drivers, was laughed out of the boardroom.

We should cut the nation in half down the middle, male side and female side. We'll have gender embassies to coordinate economic matters. Every 10 years we'll all send our most fit and fertile to meet in the gender demilitarized zone for breeding. Better yet, maybe we can establish a reproductive material trade so we never have to see each other.

Since you are making fun of this: Do you understand, why a woman would want this option?

Honestly thought it would be obvious to everyone that this was a joke given how preposterous it was. Yes I do see why women would want this.

The joke is really just meant to be funny. But if we wanna dissect it we can. Though I feel like it should be sufficient to say the joke is about capitalism.

Alright, I'll bite too despite knowing you've already made your mind up and will interpret this in bad faith.

Lyft obviously does not give a single fuck about safety, they are a corporation in the United States. It just doesn't compute. This is very clearly a move for optics and perhaps marketing, which OP has so kindly done for them. If they gave a shit they would have a proper vetting process for their drivers instead of this. Calling this move half-assed is a too generous. This doesn't protect women from serious threats from any motivated bad actor. Sex pests will say they are a trans woman, which Lyft will never verify due to negligence and optics. Traffickers will employ women to drive for them, which is already a somewhat common practice in general.

The joke is about how capitalism creates problems in society and the pretends to solve them in ways that seem productive on the surface. In actuality, these solutions are only to enrich the system while pacifying the people it exploits, all while sowing the division capitalism thrives on. The joke is hyperbole taking this notion to the extreme.

Allow me to restate that it's a JOKE, the purpose is to be funny, and it's not that serious. It was funny to me, clearly it was funny to some others based on the votes. As with all jokes, not everyone needs to get it.

I don’t see any of that in your “joke.”

Can you translate the “joke” directly in those terms? How is that what you were getting at? It’s just not translating for me.

Why would I? I already told you I know you have your mind made up and won't interpret what I say in good faith. You didn't read my last explanation so why would I explain any further?

You think I'm a sexist, I think you're an idiot and/or a troll. There's really no point continuing this "conversation" unless it's just to aimlessly vent misplaced anger in which case fuck you too buddy!
