What do the Russians think they can accomplish with the last T72's when they accomplished fuck all with everything else?

They are just hoping that they can prolong the war by a week or two.

Maybe, just maaaaybe they will be lucky and something happens that makes the west force Ukraine to cede all of the currently occupied territory to the Orc-Roaches. The only thing the Russia can do is to try to prolong the war and hope for an act of gods.

They need more than the currently occupied territories because they want to continue the invasion at a later time and they can't overcome the heavily fortified positions behind current lines. That's why Russia includes them in their demands

On the bright side, the donation of scrap steel will contribute to Ukraine's reconstruction. That its soaked in Russian military blood is just bonus.

They don't think, because they'll be sending these to be destroyed by drones too.

Not to mention that MASSIVE anti-tank stretch Ukrainians have been building behind the lines.

So as per usual Russian military heads are making another stupid move.

They built about 25k T72s, but those were built a while ago and not maintained. The last estimate I saw that seemed credible was that there were about 6000 T72s left. Let's say 1/3 are unusable, 1/3 are good for parts, and 1/3 can be repaired. That's still 2000 tanks - 20 more months of war, during which anything can happen.

Not what I heard, I thought these turtle tanks were unstoppable! Did the media totally overhype them in coverage and lean into a panic about it? Doubt it, no, that can't have been what happened, tanks must be obsolete and russia is smarter than us!

Honestly, I'm surprised they have anyone left that can be trained to drive them.

Driving isn't that hard to train, I don't even need to have driven one to tell you that. not getting stuck because you can't see is a little harder. Using them effectively in war is even harder. But just driving in an open field - I doubt it needs more than a few hours.
