Marketing Dept: Hey Mr Spez, we look like losers because no one wants to use this buggy restrictive piece of shit app that we made. How much should we invest in developing a better app?

Spez: INVEST NOTHING!!! I have a much better solution... have every other app in the world killed! THE PEONS WILL TAKE WHAT WE GIVE THEM AND LIKE IT!!!! (insert maniacal super villainous laughter)

Many of us knew back with the firing of Victoria and Pao the sacrificial lamb, but June 12th truly sealed their fate. About forking time.

Nothing happend at Reddit Frontpage on June 12, 2023. The so called "protests" is a hoax invented by the Lemmy devs attempting to discredit our wonderful platform. The "purge of moderators" never happened, not one single moderator was purged. And those who did get purged are violent rioters internet vandals. Reddit is the greatest platform ever, and Lemmy is filled with racists and spammers and ads and evil developers trying censor posts and take away user freedom. Long live CEO Spaz! May his wisdom guide us towards a better future!

They're replacing gold with "Community Points", which are of course built on THE BLOCKCHAIN and are specific to the subreddit, but also if you get enough you can have more direct control over the subreddit or... something?

Mostly it sounds like a thinly veiled system designed to let people spend money to buy influence over a subreddit. But hey, it's crypto-based so that makes it cool, right?

Holy shit... If people can buy influence, then the political nutbags that already influence social media through bot accounts will now be able to directly use their money to further push their agendas unfettered... I am so glad I jumped ship when I did.

This is a joke even to crypto bros. The whole point of a blockchain is to resist censorship; slapping it on top of an already centralized server accomplishes nothing because it still has a weak point. Try making a revolutionary subreddit and see how long it lasts.

We need a decentralized system, but the servers don't need to sync up in perfect lockstep like the monetary system does. Anybody who understands these things should be using Lemmy!

Some of the few subs on reddit-logo I still cared to visit never recovered from the blackout. Which is probably just as planned or at least a stroke of luck for the admins. debord-tired

HUGE SEASON 1 SPOILERS for [The Good Place], CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK:

spoilerThe 4 main characters were mistakenly seleted to go to the "Good Place", which is like the biblical "heaven". It's a place where good people go to enjoy the afterlife.

This is the moment where one of the characters (Eleanor Shellstrop, the one in the image) realize that the so called "Good Place" they've been in is actually the "Bad Place" similar to the biblical "hell" and the whole "mistakenly selected to be in the Good Place" is a clever ploy to "torture" the 4 main characters.

Must be using an app. Honestly, I view all Lemmy apps as testing software, they're all unstable at the moment. The browser ui works just fine.

I finally finished it a month or so ago after trying it a few times. I did enjoy it a lot! D'Arcy Carden is a gosh dang treasure. I don't think anything made me laugh harder than the Janet(s) episode.
